Company history
Zurn traces its origins to 1900, when John A. Zurn started a valve business in Erie, Pennsylvania. Elkay was established in Chicago in 1920 by Leopold Katz, Louis Katz and Ellef Robarth, initially manufacturing sinks and cabinets. Elkay later expanded into water coolers, beginning its own production in 1969, and acquired drinking-fountain and water-cooler maker Halsey Taylor in 1991.[20][21]
Rexnord acquired Zurn in 2007. In October 2021, following Rexnord’s spin-off of its Process & Motion Control business, the remaining company became Zurn Water Solutions Corporation; that November, it acquired Wade Drains. On July 1, 2022, Zurn completed its combination with Elkay and changed its name to Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation.[22][23][24][25]
In 2025, the company introduced a filter certified to reduce Total PFAS and the Elkay Pro Filtration line. In July 2026, it acquired tankless water-heater company Intellihot, expanding into commercial water heating.[26][27] [23][24][25][27][20][21][22][26]
