Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange is a multitenant cloud platform for applying identity- and policy-based controls to connections among users, devices, applications and workloads. Its core products are Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX). ZIA secures access to internet destinations and SaaS applications through inline traffic inspection, firewall controls, threat protection and data-loss prevention. ZPA provides application-specific access to internally managed applications without placing users on the corporate network or exposing those applications to the internet. ZDX monitors end-user application performance and uses AI-assisted analysis to identify causes of degraded experience across devices, networks and applications.[1][10][3][11][5]
Its additional offerings include data security tools for discovering and classifying sensitive information, monitoring data flows, and enforcing data-loss prevention policies across SaaS, cloud and other environments. GenAI security controls address use of AI tools through measures including prompt visibility, upload restrictions and data-loss prevention. Zero Trust Cloud secures workload communications using identity-based policies, traffic inspection and microsegmentation; Zero Trust Branch extends policy-based access to branch sites and connected IT and operational-technology devices, including through Zero Trust SD-WAN. Company history
Zscaler was founded in 2007 by Jay Chaudhry, who worked with an engineering team led by K. Kailash to build a cloud-delivered approach to security. In August 2008, the company announced the availability of its first cloud security services. It expanded beyond securing internet access in 2016 with Zscaler Private Access, a service designed to give users access to internal applications without a traditional VPN.[29][30][31]
Zscaler went public in March 2018, listing on Nasdaq under the symbol ZS. It subsequently broadened its cloud-security capabilities through acquisitions, announcing a deal for cloud security posture management company Cloudneeti in 2020 and an agreement to acquire cloud entitlement specialist Trustdome in 2021.
