Its core areas include oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and infectious disease, with operations spanning Greater China and the United States. The company’s stated mission is to improve patients’ lives by developing and commercializing innovative therapies.[1][2]

Zai Lab’s commercial portfolio includes approved medicines in Greater China, including treatments for ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, resistant bacterial infections, and ROS1-positive non-small cell lung cancer.[3] As indicators of scale, the company reported 2025 revenue of $460.2 million and 1,784 employees as of December 31, 2025.[8][9] [1]

Zai Lab’s marketed portfolio includes ZEJULA (niraparib), an oral PARP1/2 inhibitor for ovarian-cancer maintenance; VYVGART and subcutaneous VYVGART Hytrulo (efgartigimod), FcRn blockers used for generalized myasthenia gravis, with Hytrulo also approved for CIDP; and NUZYRA (omadacycline), an oral and intravenous antibiotic for adult community-acquired bacterial pneumonia and acute bacterial skin infections. Geographic presence

Zai Lab’s operations and commercial activities are centered in mainland China; its 2025 annual report states that a substantial portion of its operations and all commercial operations are conducted there. The company also has entities domiciled in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and the United States, with listed activities including development, R&D, business development, commercialization and clinical trials across those locations.[34][35] Its product-market disclosures include mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, and Greater China for specific products.[36]

The company lists principal executive offices in Pudong, Shanghai, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its current contact page also lists locations in Beijing, Suzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei, South San Francisco and San Diego.[37][38] Zai Lab reported about 2,100 employees worldwide as of December 31, 2023, but a geographic breakdown of employees was not found.[39] Its 2025 annual and 2026 interim filings do not report revenue by country or region.[40][41] [34]

Business segments

Zai Lab reports one operating and reportable segment; it does not report separate oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious-disease, or geographic segments. Its single business spans product discovery, development, and commercialization in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and infectious disease.[42]

As an indicative portfolio mix—not official segment contributions—H1 2026 product revenue was approximately 54% oncology, 25% infectious disease, 21% immunology, and less than 1% neuroscience, based on commercial-program revenue grouped by therapeutic focus. Product revenue totaled $201.3 million; collaboration revenue is excluded from these percentages.[43][44] [42]

Company history

Zai Lab was founded in 2014 by Dr. Samantha Du, with a strategy that included licensing collaborations for medicines; early agreements included one with Tesaro in 2016 and another with Paratek in 2017.[45] The company listed on Nasdaq in September 2017 and completed a Hong Kong listing in September 2020.[48][49]

In 2020, Zai Lab launched ZEJULA in mainland China and made Optune commercially available there.[50] In December 2021, following NMPA approval for specified bacterial infections, it launched NUZYRA in China.[51] The company launched VYVGART in China in September 2023 for generalized myasthenia gravis, and reported launching KarXT in mainland China in June 2026 for adult schizophrenia.[52] [45]
