XTB SA

Updated

Overview

XTB SA is a Polish online brokerage and investment platform serving retail investors and traders. Its products include CFDs across asset classes, stocks and ETFs, Investment Plans, and savings features offered through its app. The company describes its mission as helping clients put their money to work in different ways through one app.[1]

XTB operates in more than 12 countries across three continents. Founded as X-Trade Brokers in 2004, it later expanded internationally and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2016. In 2025, the group reported PLN 2,146 million in total operating income and employed 1,315 people at year-end.[2] [2]

Products & services

XTB offers direct investment in stocks and ETFs/ETPs, as well as CFDs on commodities, indices, currencies, stocks, ETFs and bonds. Its xStation web and mobile platform provides charting and technical-analysis tools, market analysis, an economic calendar and news; XTB also supports MetaTrader 4. In 2025, CFD trading volume was split across xStation desktop (31%), xStation Mobile (61%) and MT4 (8%).[5]

For longer-term investing, XTB offers Investment Plans for portfolios of stocks and ETFs, and fractional rights that allow clients to invest in less than a whole share; fractional rights do not confer the same ownership rights as a full share, such as voting rights. Account offerings vary by market: the company reports launching Poland’s IKE in 2024 and IKZE in 2025, France’s PEA in 2025, and a UK Cash ISA in Q1 2026. It also launched an eWallet for Polish clients, with a virtual wallet and multicurrency card for payments and cash withdrawals.[10]

XTB’s 2025 investor presentation reports gross gains on financial-instrument transactions of PLN 2,113.3 million, comprising PLN 2,035.0 million from CFDs and PLN 78.3 million from stocks and ETFs. Within the reported CFD asset-class mix, commodities accounted for 43.7%, indices 36.0%, currencies 13.7% and other instruments 6.6%. These figures describe trading results, not total company revenue.[15][16] [15]

Geographic presence

XTB’s geographic footprint spans Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Middle East and Latin America; the company identifies Poland as its primary market. Its platform is also available in Asian markets, although FY2025 reported negligible operating income from Asia.[17][18]

In FY2025, operating income was PLN 2,146.056 million. Central and Eastern Europe contributed PLN 1,447.905 million (about 67.5%), including Poland at PLN 1,168.350 million (54.4% of total); Western Europe contributed PLN 387.409 million (18.1%), the Middle East PLN 182.480 million (8.5%), Latin America PLN 128.259 million (6.0%), and Asia PLN 4,000 (less than 0.01%). Percentages are calculated from the reported amounts.[18]

The FY2025 report lists branches in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Germany, Portugal, Romania and Spain, and group entities in Poland, the United Kingdom, Belize, Chile, the UAE, Cyprus and Indonesia. These are reported branches and entities, rather than a complete list of customer markets.[19][20] At year-end 2025, Poland accounted for 956 employees in the country/entity table; other listed headcounts included 63 in Chile, 52 in the UAE and 38 in the Czech Republic. The table’s listed entity figures sum to 1,317, while its stated total is 1,315.[4]

A Q1 2026 report explains that Belize-based XTB International Ltd. acquires clients in Latin America and other markets outside Europe; clients in the Middle East acquired by that company or UAE-based entities are attributed to the Middle East. XTB’s Chilean entity received a local operating licence in February 2025.[21][22] [17]

Business segments

XTB reports two business segments: **Retail operations**, which provide trading in financial instruments to individual clients, and **Institutional operations**, which provide trading and trading infrastructure to institutions serving their own clients under their own brands [23][24]. The institutional business, X Open Hub (XOH), provides liquidity and technology to financial institutions [25].

By share of total operating revenues, institutional operations contributed 2.0% in FY2025 and 2.4% in Q1 2026; retail operations therefore accounted for approximately 98.0% and 97.6%, respectively, by complement [26]. In the first half of 2025, reported operating income was PLN 1,144.895 million for retail and PLN 15.996 million for institutional operations—approximately 98.6% and 1.4% of the segment total, respectively [27]. Company history

XTB was established in Poland in 2004 as X-Trade Brokers and began brokerage operations in 2005 after receiving a Polish financial regulator licence. It opened its first foreign branch in the Czech Republic in 2007, followed by expansion into several other European markets in 2008. The company adopted the XTB Online Trading brand in 2009 and launched its institutional-services business in 2012 and proprietary xStation platform in 2013.[28][29]

XTB’s shares debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange’s main market on 6 May 2016. In 2017, it expanded beyond Europe, including through the acquisition of CFDs Prime Limited, later renamed XTB International Limited; Omar Arnaout became president of the Management Board that year. The company subsequently broadened its retail-investing offer: it introduced stocks and exchange-traded products across 2018–2020, obtained a Dubai Financial Services Authority licence in 2021, and added features such as Investment Plans and fractional rights in 2023.[30] [28]
