Updated

Overview

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. is a global lodging company focused primarily on hotel franchising. It licenses hotel brands to independent owners and supports them with related services; its portfolio spans extended-stay, economy, midscale, upscale and luxury lodging, with 25 brands including Super 8, Days Inn, La Quinta, Wyndham and Wyndham Grand.[1]

The company’s stated mission is “to make hotel travel possible for all.” [4] Its system operated in approximately 100 countries and included 873,400 rooms as of June 30, 2026.[1][5] For scale, Wyndham reported $1.429 billion in net revenues for fiscal 2025 and 2,000 employees at year-end 2025.[6][7] [1]

Products & services

Wyndham’s hotel products span 25 brands across economy, midscale, upscale, luxury and extended-stay categories. Examples include Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Microtel, La Quinta, Baymont, Wingate, AmericInn, ECHO Suites, Registry Collection Hotels, Trademark Collection and Wyndham.[8][9] The company licenses these brands to hotel owners and supports them with brand-specific reservation systems, advertising, promotions, co-marketing and franchisee training.[2]

Wyndham Rewards links stays across the hotel portfolio and also allows redemptions at vacation-club resorts and vacation rentals; the program had more than 126 million enrolled members as of the second quarter of 2026.[8][10] Guest-facing digital services include an AI-assisted booking experience that provides real-time rates and inventory and guaranteed room types, as well as Wyndham Connect, which can message guests and offer early check-in, late checkout and upgrades. Wyndham AI Concierge handles voice and messaging inquiries and can book reservations.[11]

Extended-stay brands include ECHO Suites, Hawthorn and WaterWalk. ECHO Suites rooms feature kitchens with two-burner cooktops, microwaves, full-size refrigerators and sinks; dishwashers are available at some locations, and laundry facilities are offered.[12][13] Extended stay represented 17% of the company’s room development pipeline at June 30, 2026.[12] Wyndham reports financial results primarily for Hotel Franchising rather than by individual brand; that segment recorded $375 million in second-quarter 2026 net revenue.[14] [8]

Geographic presence

As of June 30, 2026, Wyndham’s hotel system spanned approximately 8,400 hotels in about 100 countries across six continents, with 873,400 rooms: 501,100 in the United States and 372,300 internationally.[15][16]

At year-end 2025, the system comprised 8,389 properties and 868,899 rooms across six reported regions. The United States accounted for 5,934 properties and 505,149 rooms; Canada 484 properties and 39,714 rooms; Greater China 686 properties and 133,164 rooms; the rest of Asia Pacific 217 properties and 44,232 rooms; EMEA 773 properties and 100,165 rooms; and Latin America 295 properties and 46,475 rooms. These figures describe the branded hotel system, not solely hotels owned by Wyndham.[17]

Wyndham’s principal executive offices are in Parsippany, New Jersey. Its worldwide franchise-sales organization includes U.S. regional coverage and teams across markets including Canada, China, India, Singapore, Australia, Turkey, the UAE, Egypt, Germany, France, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.[20][21] [15]

Business segments

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts reports one operating and reportable segment: Hotel Franchising. It licenses lodging brands and provides related services to third-party hotel owners and others. The company’s former Hotel Management segment stopped being separately reportable in 2023; its remaining management activities, predominantly full-service international managed business, are included in Hotel Franchising. Corporate is reported separately for reconciliation, not as an additional operating segment.[18][22]

For FY2025, Hotel Franchising recorded $1.429 billion in revenue—approximately 100% of company revenue—and $781 million in adjusted EBITDA. That was about 109% of company adjusted EBITDA of $718 million, because Corporate adjusted EBITDA was negative $63 million.[23] In the six months ended June 30, 2026, the segment contributed $702 million in revenue (approximately 100% of company revenue) and $399 million in adjusted EBITDA, about 108% of the company’s $368 million total; Corporate adjusted EBITDA was negative $31 million.[24] [18]

Company history

Ramada’s history dates to 1954, and the Wyndham hotel brand was created in 1981. The corporate predecessor that developed into Wyndham Hotels & Resorts was incorporated in 1990 as Hospitality Franchise Systems to acquire the Howard Johnson brand and U.S. Ramada franchise rights.[25]

In 2006, Cendant spun off Wyndham Worldwide, which included its hotel business. In 2018, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts became an independent public company following its separation from Wyndham Worldwide; shortly beforehand, it acquired La Quinta’s hotel-franchising and management business for $1.95 billion.[28]

The company continued expanding its brand portfolio with the launch of Registry Collection Hotels in 2021 and ECHO Suites, its first economy extended-stay brand, in 2022. That year it also acquired the European hotel brand Vienna House. In 2024, it added WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham through a strategic relationship.[32] [29]
