Company history

Worthington Enterprises was founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1955 by John H. McConnell as a steel-processing business. It went public in 1968 and expanded into pressure cylinders in 1971, when it acquired a small cylinder business and adopted the name Worthington Industries.[3][25]

The company broadened beyond steel processing with its 1996 acquisition of Dietrich Industries, expanding into metal framing. In 2011, Dietrich and ClarkWestern finalized a joint venture that became ClarkDietrich; in 2017, Worthington acquired Amtrol, adding pressure-cylinder and water-system-tank products.[26]

Andy Rose became president and CEO in 2020, succeeding John P. McConnell. On December 1, 2023, the steel-processing business separated as Worthington Steel; the remaining company changed its name to Worthington Enterprises. It acquired composite LPG-cylinder maker Hexagon Ragasco in 2024, and Joseph B. Hayek became president and CEO that November.[29] [30]
