Its label portfolio includes Atlantic Records, Warner Records, Elektra, Parlophone, Rhino Entertainment, Nonesuch, Spinnin’ Records and Warner Classics; Rhino specializes in catalog compilations, reissues, video titles and previously unreleased material.[9][10]

Warner Chappell Music provides music publishing and composition-administration services, including licensing and administration of music and soundtracks for third-party film and television producers and studios. The company also offers artist services and expanded-rights activities such as merchandising, direct-to-consumer sales, touring, concert promotion, ticketing, sponsorship, fan clubs, artist websites and management. ADA provides independent distribution and label services, including digital marketing, catalog strategy, sync licensing, merchandise and direct-to-consumer integration, while WMX offers commercial, marketing, media and creative services for artists, labels and brands.[11]

Music-publishing revenue included $800 million digital, $228 million performance, $197 million synchronization, $63 million mechanical and $18 million other revenue. In the first nine months of fiscal 2026, recorded-music streaming revenue was $2.922 billion; download and other digital revenue was $45 million.[18] [9]

Geographic presence

Warner Music Group operates through subsidiaries, affiliates and licensees in international markets. Its careers page describes a network spanning more than 70 countries, while its FAQ and affiliate list describe operations in more than 50 countries; these are distinct descriptions of its global reach. The affiliate list identifies countries but does not provide a country-by-country revenue breakdown.[21]

WMG reports revenue geographically as U.S. and international. In FY2025, revenue was $6.707 billion, including $3.840 billion internationally (about 57.3%) and an implied $2.867 billion in the U.S. (about 42.7%). Recorded Music revenue was 60% international and 40% U.S.; Music Publishing was 47% international and 53% U.S.[7] For the nine months ended June 30, 2026, international revenue was $3.149 billion of $5.436 billion total (about 57.9%), with the implied U.S. share about 42.1%.[26][27]

The company’s principal executive office is at 1633 Broadway, New York, New York. Warner Chappell Music is headquartered in Los Angeles, and WMG lists New York, London and Los Angeles among its office locations. Its filings cite activity in Europe and Japan in international licensing, Asia for physical revenue, and Europe and Latin America for touring-related publishing performance revenue.[28] [7]

Business segments

Warner Music Group reports two operating segments: **Recorded Music** and **Music Publishing** [19]. Recorded Music focuses on discovering and developing artists, then marketing, promoting, distributing, selling and licensing their music [30]. Music Publishing, principally conducted through Warner Chappell Music, owns or controls musical-composition rights and administers works for songwriters and third parties [20].

For the nine months ended June 30, 2026, Recorded Music generated $4,348 million, or approximately 80.0% of consolidated revenue, while Music Publishing generated $1,092 million, or approximately 20.1%. Consolidated revenue was $5,436 million after $4 million of intersegment eliminations [31]. For FY2025, Recorded Music generated $5,408 million, approximately 80.6% of consolidated revenue, and Music Publishing generated $1,306 million, approximately 19.5%; consolidated revenue was $6,707 million after $7 million of eliminations [32]. Percentages are approximate and may not total 100% because segment revenue is reported before eliminations and of rounding.

WMG also discloses revenue categories within these segments, rather than additional reportable segments: Recorded Music includes digital, physical, artist services and expanded-rights, and licensing; Music Publishing includes performance, digital, mechanical, synchronization, and other revenue [31][32]. Company history

Warner Music Group’s recorded-music roots include Warner Bros. Records, launched in 1958, and labels such as Atlantic and Elektra that were brought into the broader Warner music organization through acquisitions in the late 1960s and 1970. The group’s music-publishing operations later expanded with Warner’s 1987 acquisition of Chappell’s publishing business.[33]

In 2004, Time Warner sold its recorded-music and music-publishing businesses to an investor group led by Edgar Bronfman Jr., establishing WMG as an independent music company. WMG went public in 2005, was acquired by Access Industries and taken private in 2011, then returned to public markets with a Nasdaq IPO in 2020.[36]

Among its subsequent acquisitions, WMG completed the purchase of Parlophone Label Group in 2013 and acquired 300 Entertainment in 2022. Robert Kyncl became CEO in January 2023, succeeding Stephen Cooper.[40] [33]
