Overview
Venture Global, Inc. is a U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company that develops and operates export facilities and integrates natural-gas transportation, LNG production, shipping and regasification. Its export projects are located in Louisiana and supply LNG to global markets through a mix of long-term contracts and other sales. The company states that its aim is to provide affordable LNG that supports energy security and diversification.[1][2][3]
Its projects include the operating Calcasieu Pass facility, Plaquemines LNG, which is in construction and commissioning, and CP2, which is under construction.[4] Venture Global reported $13.8 billion in revenue for 2025 and employed more than 2,000 full-time people at year-end.[5][6] [1][2][3][4][4][4][5][6]
Products & services
Venture Global’s principal product is liquefied natural gas (LNG). It produces LNG at modular liquefaction facilities and sells cargoes under long-term sale and purchase agreements, as well as through shorter-term and excess-capacity sales. Its Calcasieu Pass facility has 18 liquefaction trains and an expected annualized production capacity of 11.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa); Plaquemines LNG and CP2 LNG each have 36 trains, with expected capacities of 28.0 and 29.0 mtpa, respectively. Plaquemines and CP2 are under construction or commissioning, so their stated capacities are not current output.[1][4][7]
LNG is offered on free-on-board (FOB), delivered-at-place-unloaded (DPU) and delivered-ex-ship (DES) terms, allowing sales either at the export terminal or with transportation to a destination. Long-term agreements generally combine a fixed liquefaction fee with a variable natural-gas-linked charge; delivered sales can include transportation charges. Venture Global also uses contracted LNG vessels and regasification capacity in the UK and Greece to support delivered LNG and downstream gas supply. LNG sales accounted for $13.687 billion of its $13.769 billion in 2025 revenue, approximately 99.4%; the remaining $82 million was reported as other revenue.[8][9][10][11][12][13] [1][4][4][4][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][13][13]
Geographic presence
Venture Global’s LNG project footprint is concentrated in southern Louisiana. Its Calcasieu Pass and CP2 project sites are in Cameron Parish, while its Plaquemines project occupies land leased from the Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District. The company states that substantially all of its anticipated revenue depends on its Louisiana LNG projects.[14][15][16]
The company’s principal executive offices are in Arlington, Virginia, and it also leases office space in Houston, Singapore, London and Tokyo. Beyond its U.S. export facilities, it has contracted capacity at LNG terminals in the United Kingdom and Greece to serve European customers. Its inaugural Plaquemines cargo was shipped to Germany, but the available information does not establish a geographic revenue breakdown.[17][18][19][20] [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]
Business segments
Venture Global reports four business segments: Calcasieu Project, Plaquemines Project, CP2 Project, and Sales and Shipping. Each project segment covers its LNG liquefaction facility, export terminal and associated natural-gas pipeline activities. Sales and Shipping is reported separately; smaller operating activities are included with corporate costs and eliminations rather than reported as a fifth segment.[21][22]
For 2025, Plaquemines generated approximately 67% of consolidated revenue, Calcasieu 30%, Sales and Shipping 18%, and CP2 less than 1%. These percentages exceed 100% in total because the separately presented corporate, other and eliminations line reduced reported segment revenue by approximately 15% of consolidated revenue.[23] [21][22][23][23][23][23][23][23]
Company history
Venture Global was founded in 2013 by Bob Pender and Michael Sabel. In 2016, it signed a long-term LNG sales agreement with Shell. The company reached a final investment decision on its first export project, Calcasieu Pass in Louisiana, in 2019; the facility produced its first LNG in January 2022 and shipped its first cargo that March.[24][25][26][27]
Venture Global made a final investment decision on the first phase of its second Louisiana export project, Plaquemines LNG, in 2022. Plaquemines produced its first LNG and shipped its inaugural cargo in December 2024. Venture Global completed its initial public offering in January 2025 and reached a final investment decision on the first phase of its CP2 project that July.[28][27][29][30] [27][29][30][24][25][26][28]
