Overview

TransDigm Group Inc. is an aerospace manufacturer that designs, produces and supplies highly engineered components for commercial and military aircraft worldwide. Its products include aircraft power and control equipment, airframe and cabin components, and a smaller range of products for non-aviation markets. The company’s focus is on proprietary components, many of which support aircraft already in service through the aftermarket.[1]+4

Products & services

TransDigm’s Power & Control products use electronic, fluid-power and mechanical-motion-control technologies in aircraft systems. They include mechanical and electromechanical actuators, ignition and engine components, pumps and valves, AC/DC motors and generators, batteries and chargers, power-conditioning devices, sensors, switches, relay panels, hoists and winches, cargo-handling systems, and microwave-signal components. The segment accounted for approximately 52% of fiscal 2025 net sales.[8][9]

Its Airframe products serve aircraft structure, cabin and cockpit applications. They include latches and locks, engineered rods and connectors, seals, cockpit security systems and displays, audio and antenna systems, lavatory components, seat belts and restraints, interior surfaces, insulation, lighting controls and parachutes. The segment also supplies flight, wind-tunnel and jet-engine testing services and equipment, along with testing and instrumentation solutions. Airframe accounted for approximately 47% of fiscal 2025 net sales.[10][9]

Outside aviation, TransDigm supplies ground-transportation restraints, space-application actuators, land-based gas-turbine actuators and fuel valves, heavy-equipment refueling systems, and controls for energy-sector turbines; these products accounted for approximately 2% of fiscal 2025 net sales. Power & Control and Airframe products are sold for both original equipment and aftermarket use. The company also provides repair and overhaul services and maintains FAA-approved repair stations.[11]+4 [8]+7

Geographic presence

TransDigm Group is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. It has approximately 120 manufacturing facilities across 25 U.S. states and 14 other countries. Most facilities also perform distribution and engineering functions, while some of its other properties serve as sales and administrative offices or distribution centers.[13][14]

In fiscal 2025, U.S. sales were $5.535 billion, or approximately 62.7% of total net sales; sales to foreign countries were $3.296 billion, or approximately 37.3%. These figures are based on the geographic destination of sales. TransDigm does not disclose sales by individual foreign country because none is material on its own.[15][16] [13]+3

Business segments

TransDigm reports three business segments. **Power & Control** develops aircraft systems and components that provide or control power, including actuators, ignition systems, pumps and valves, electric motors, generators and sensors. **Airframe** develops components for non-power airframe and cabin applications, including latches, connectors, cockpit systems, interior components, lighting and safety restraints. Both segments sell to original-equipment and aftermarket customers.[3][4]

**Non-aviation** supplies products such as ground-transportation restraints, space actuators, land-based gas-turbine components and heavy-equipment refueling systems. In fiscal 2025, Power & Control accounted for approximately **52%** of net sales ($4,559 million), Airframe **47%** ($4,112 million), and Non-aviation **2%** ($160 million). Company history

TransDigm traces its origins to 1993, when a Kelso-affiliated company agreed to buy four aerospace businesses from IMO Industries; TransDigm Inc. was incorporated that July. Douglas Peacock was a co-founder, and W. Nicholas Howley became the company’s long-serving chief executive.[19]+2 TransDigm went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006 under the symbol TDG.[22]

Acquisitions shaped its subsequent growth. TransDigm acquired McKechnie Aerospace in 2010 and Airborne Systems in 2013, then completed the substantially larger acquisition of Esterline Technologies in 2019.[23]+2 In 2018, Kevin Stein succeeded Howley as president and chief executive officer, while Howley became executive chairman.[26] [19]+7
