Overview
Tower Semiconductor Ltd. is a global analog semiconductor foundry that develops and manufactures technology platforms and provides related services to fabless companies and integrated device manufacturers. Its offerings include silicon photonics, SiGe, mixed-signal and CMOS, RF, image-sensor, display and power-management technologies, serving markets such as automotive, industrial, mobile, infrastructure, medical, consumer, and aerospace and defense.[1][2]
Founded in 1993, the company’s manufacturing footprint spans Israel, the United States, Japan and Italy. Tower reported 2025 revenue of approximately $1.57 billion; its company careers page describes a worldwide workforce of 5,500, without specifying an as-of date.[3][2][4][5]
Tower states its mission is to be a trusted long-term partner with a positive and sustainable impact through innovative analog technologies and manufacturing solutions.[6] [1][2][3][4][5][6][3][5][6]
Products & services
Tower Semiconductor manufactures wafers to customers’ designs and does not sell products under its own product line. Customer-designed chips produced using its technologies include silicon-photonics and SiGe devices for optical transceivers; RF components such as antenna switches and wireless transceivers; power-management circuits and amplifiers; imaging chips for camera, medical and industrial uses; and magnetic-field sensors.[7][8]
Its foundry platforms include analog CMOS, RF CMOS/RF-SOI, mixed-signal, BiCMOS and SiGe BiCMOS, silicon photonics, MEMS, CMOS image sensors, high-voltage CMOS and power-management processes. The reported process range includes 0.35-, 0.18-, 0.16- and 0.13-micron technologies on 200-mm wafers and 65-nm technology on 300-mm wafers.[7] Silicon-photonics platforms PH18 (200 mm) and PH45 (300 mm) support optical-interconnect applications from 400 Gb/s to 1.6 Tb/s; Tower also reported development work on 3.2-Tb/s and co-packaged-optics technologies.[9] SiGe BiCMOS offerings span 0.35, 0.18 and 0.13 microns, with a 65-nm platform, for applications including networking, automotive radar and amplifiers.[10] Power technologies include low-voltage BCD and 140-V Resurf, 200-V SOI and 700-V ultra-high-voltage processes.[11]
Services include process-design kits, simulation models, engineering and design support, customer-specific process optimization, dedicated fabrication and multi-project-wafer prototyping. Tower also offers tailored process development, transfer and optimization across manufacturing sites.[12][13] The FY2025 filing identifies several major technology categories but does not provide product- or platform-level revenue percentages.[14] [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
Geographic presence
Tower Semiconductor’s latest available reporting-year disclosure is its 2025 Form 20-F. At year-end 2025, its active wafer-processing footprint comprised Fab 2 in Migdal Haemek, Israel; Fab 3 in Newport Beach, California, and Fab 9 in San Antonio, Texas; two facilities in Japan, Uozu E/Fab 7 and Tonami CD/Fab 5; and shared capacity at an ST-managed 300mm fab in Agrate, Italy.[15][16] Its group includes 51%-owned Tower Partners Semiconductor Co. in Japan and a wholly owned Italian subsidiary.[2] [15][16][2][17][18][19][20][21]
Business segments
Tower Semiconductor reports one reportable segment: its analog foundry operations, which provide semiconductor manufacturing solutions across specialty process technologies. The company’s reported technology offerings include analog CMOS, CMOS and non-imaging sensors, MEMS, RF CMOS/RF SOI, mixed-signal, BiCMOS/SiGe BiCMOS, silicon photonics, high-voltage CMOS and power-management technologies. It does not report revenue shares for these technology categories.[22][7][14]
Geography is disclosed as a revenue breakdown, not as separate operating segments. In 2025, revenue by customer headquarters location was approximately 42% USA, 13% Japan, 39% Asia excluding Japan and 6% Europe.[23][24] [22][7][14][23][24][24][24][24][25][26]
Company history
Tower Semiconductor was founded in 1993 after acquiring National Semiconductor’s 150-mm fabrication facility in Migdal Haemek, Israel. Its expansion included the start of operations at a second Migdal Haemek fab in 2003 and, in 2008, a merger with Jazz Technologies that added Jazz Semiconductor’s Newport Beach facility.[18][27][28]
The company expanded in Japan in 2014 by acquiring a 51% stake in TPSCo, which brought three factories into its manufacturing network, and in 2016 acquired Fab 9 in San Antonio from Maxim. In 2024, its Fab 10 facility in Agrate, Italy, completed qualification and began volume production. Tower discontinued operations at its original Fab 1 in 2025, consolidating some production into Fab 2. In March 2026, Tower and Nuvoton agreed to divide ownership of two TPSCo fabs, subject to approvals and closing conditions.[29][30][31][32][33][34][35] [18][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35]
