Overview
TIM S.A. is a Brazil-focused telecommunications company providing mobile connectivity across 5G, 4G, 3G and GSM networks, alongside fiber broadband and business and digital services. Its mobile network covers all Brazilian municipalities with 4G and more than 1,000 cities with 5G.[1][2]
TIM states its purpose as “Evolve together with respect and courage, transforming technology into freedom.” [3] Incorporated in Brazil in 1998, the company reported FY2025 revenue of R$26.625 billion and 8,706 employees; its headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro.[4][5][2] [1][2][3][4][5][2][2][3]
Products & services
TIM S.A. offers mobile voice and data under the TIM brand across 5G NSA/SA, NB-IoT, 4G, 3G and GSM networks. Its 4G network reaches all Brazilian municipalities, and by the end of 2025 its 5G network covered more than 1,000 cities and nearly 70% of the urban population.[1] Consumer products include the TIM Black postpaid and TIM Controle plans, as well as TIM UltraFibra fixed broadband.[6][7][8]
For business customers, TIM offers mobile plans including TIM Black Empresa, cloud services such as virtual servers, bare-metal infrastructure, storage and colocation, and an IoT platform for managing devices and processes using MQTT and HTTP protocols.[9][10][11] Its IoT applications include smart lighting, precision agriculture, autonomous operations, video surveillance and analytics, logistics, and Industry 4.0.[12] In 2Q26, mobile service revenue was reported at R$6.369 billion and fixed-service revenue at R$416 million; postpaid accounted for nearly 70% of mobile service revenue. These figures describe service lines and customer mix, not individual branded products.[13][14] [1][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
Geographic presence
TIM S.A.’s operating footprint is in Brazil: it holds mobile licenses across all ten ANATEL wireless areas and reports nationwide 4G coverage. At year-end 2025, 4G reached every Brazilian municipality, while 5G was available in more than 1,000 cities. The company also reported coverage on more than 10,000 km of Brazilian highways.[1][15][16]
TIM’s principal executive office and headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro. Its network infrastructure includes core data centers in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Fortaleza, Salvador, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Belém and Curitiba, as well as edge data centers in cities across Brazil. The available geographic reporting does not provide revenue by country or region, or an employee distribution by geography.[17][18][19][1] [1][15][16][17][18][19]
Business segments
TIM S.A. reports one business segment: its activities are managed and resource-allocation decisions are made on a consolidated basis, rather than by separately managed service-line segments. The company’s activities include mobile voice and data, broadband internet, value-added services, and other telecommunications services and products.[20][21]
As an indication of business mix—not a reported operating-segment split—2025 revenue was approximately 92.1% mobile services (R$24.52 billion), 5.0% fixed services (R$1.34 billion), and 2.9% goods sold (R$0.77 billion), based on total revenue of R$26.62 billion. Mobile service revenue includes client-generated revenue, interconnection, customer platform, and other mobile revenue.[22][22][22][22][23] [20][21][22][22][22][22][23]
Company history
TIM’s Brazilian operations trace their origins to Telecom Italia Mobile’s entry into Brazil in 1998. In 2002, TIM Brasil was established as Telecom Italia’s Brazilian holding company and TIM became the first operator in Brazil with nationwide GSM coverage. The group adopted the TIM Participações name in 2004.[24][25]
TIM expanded its network and infrastructure through acquisitions, including Intelig in 2009 and AES-group telecom and fiber assets in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in 2011; related corporate entities were merged into TIM Celular in 2012. In 2017, the former Intelig entity took the TIM S.A. name, and TIM Celular merged into it in 2018.[26][27][28][29]
A corporate reorganization in 2020 merged TIM Participações into TIM S.A., which became the surviving company. In 2022, TIM, Claro and Telefônica Brasil completed their acquisition of Oi’s mobile assets, and TIM began its 5G rollout in Brazil.[30][31][25] [24][26][27][28][29][30][25][31]
