Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. is a global pharmaceutical company operating in the generics and innovative-medicines sectors. Its products include generic medicines, biosimilars and over-the-counter products, alongside innovative medicines. The company reports operations across the United States, Europe and International Markets; AUSTEDO, AJOVY and UZEDY are among the innovative brands highlighted in its portfolio.[1][2]

Teva describes its purpose as “We are all in for better health.” [3] For the year ended December 31, 2025, it reported revenue of approximately $17.3 billion; company figures for that date list 34,000 employees and operations in 57 markets.[2][4] [1]

Products & services

Teva’s named medicines include AUSTEDO/AUSTEDO XR (deutetrabenazine tablets) for chorea associated with Huntington’s disease and tardive dyskinesia; the XR version is a once-daily formulation. Its portfolio also includes AJOVY (fremanezumab-vfrm injection) for migraine prevention, UZEDY (risperidone extended-release injectable suspension) for adult schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder, and COPAXONE (glatiramer acetate injection) for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.[5][6]

In oncology, BENDEKA and TREANDA are bendamustine hydrochloride injectable products indicated for chronic lymphocytic leukemia and certain indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma; BENDEKA is described as a 50 mL formulation administered by 10-minute infusion.[7] Teva’s biosimilar products named in 2026 disclosures include SELARSDI (ustekinumab-aekn), EPYSQLI (eculizumab-aagh), and PONLIMSI (denosumab-adet).[8]

Teva also provides generic and biosimilar medicines, consumer health products, APIs and contract manufacturing. Its API development capabilities include process development and physical compound characterization for synthetic, fermentation, semi-synthetic and high-potency APIs, as well as oligonucleotides and peptides.[9][10] AUSTEDO, AJOVY and UZEDY together generated $838 million in Q1 2026; the company’s 2026 outlook projected that these three products would represent about 21% of total revenue.[8] [5]

Geographic presence

Teva reports its operations and sales across three geographic segments: the United States, Europe, and International Markets. The International Markets segment covers more than 35 countries outside the U.S. and Europe, including markets such as Canada, Israel, Russia, and countries in Latin America.[11] In 2025, segment revenues were $9.186 billion in the U.S., $5.040 billion in Europe, and $2.162 billion in International Markets—approximately 53.2%, 29.2%, and 12.5% of consolidated revenue, respectively. These percentages are calculated from reported figures; the segment revenues do not sum to consolidated revenue.[14]

At year-end 2025, Teva reported 32,842 employees excluding contractors: 17,390 in Europe, 7,768 in International Markets excluding Israel, 4,613 in the U.S., and 3,071 in Israel.[18][19] The company identifies Israel as its corporate headquarters location and lists offices in Tel Aviv and Parsippany, New Jersey.[20] As of December 31, 2025, Teva reported 30 manufacturing sites and 21 R&D sites across 57 markets.[4] [11]

Business segments

Teva reports three geographic segments: United States, Europe, and International Markets. Each manages the full product portfolio in its region, spanning generic medicines—including biosimilars and over-the-counter products—and innovative medicines. Europe covers the EU, UK, and certain other European countries; International Markets covers countries where Teva operates outside the United States and Europe.[1]

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, United States revenue was $3,236 million, approximately 39.8% of consolidated revenue; Europe revenue was $2,603 million, about 32.0%; and International Markets revenue was $1,074 million, about 13.2%. Consolidated revenue was $8,124 million.[25]

The U.S. segment’s stated focus includes biopharmaceuticals, growth engines, and innovation. The company’s regional product disclosures include generics, AJOVY, COPAXONE, and respiratory products in Europe, and generics, AJOVY, AUSTEDO, and COPAXONE in International Markets; these are disclosed product categories rather than exclusive regional focuses.[26]

Other Activities is presented separately from the three reportable segments and accounted for $1,211 million, or approximately 14.9%, of first-half 2026 revenue. Anda was moved from the U.S. segment to Other Activities effective January 1, 2026.[1] [1]

Company history

Teva’s origins date to 1901, when S.L.E., a wholesale drug business, was established in Jerusalem. In 1976, Teva, Assia and Zori merged to form Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.; the company later expanded internationally, listing on Nasdaq in 1982. A major step beyond generics came in 1996, when its multiple-sclerosis treatment COPAXONE was approved.[31]

From 2004 onward, Teva significantly expanded through acquisitions, including injectable-drug producer Sicor in 2004, IVAX in 2006, Barr Pharmaceuticals in 2008, ratiopharm in 2010 and specialty-drug company Cephalon in 2011.[32] In 2016, it completed the acquisition of Allergan’s Actavis Generics business, further increasing its scale in generic medicines.[37]
