Business segments

Terex’s current reported segments are Environmental Solutions (ES), Materials Processing (MP), Specialty Vehicles (SV), and Aerials. This four-segment structure took effect February 2, 2026, in connection with the REV transaction; ES combines the Environmental Solutions Group and Utilities operating segments.[19][20]

The segments span distinct equipment markets: ES covers waste, recycling and utility equipment and related solutions; MP covers materials-processing and specialty equipment; SV includes commercial and custom fire and ambulance vehicles, terminal trucks, sweepers and recreational vehicles; and Aerials covers aerial work platforms and telehandlers.[20] In FY2025, under the prior three-segment reporting structure, sales were approximately $1.691 billion for ES (31.2% of consolidated sales), $1.681 billion for MP (31.0%), and $2.060 billion for Aerials (38.0%). FY2025 consolidated sales were $5.421 billion. SV was not separately reported in the FY2025 comparison, so no standalone FY2025 sales share is available here.[24][25] [19]

Company history

Terex traces its origins to 1933, when George A. Armington founded the Euclid Company to build hauling trucks. General Motors acquired Euclid in 1953 and introduced the Terex name for its earthmoving-equipment line in 1970. Northwest Engineering acquired Terex businesses in 1986 and 1987, then merged into Terex Corporation in 1988, establishing Terex as the parent company; Terex joined the New York Stock Exchange in 1991.[26][27]

From the mid-1990s through the early 2000s, a series of acquisitions expanded Terex across lifting, utility, crushing and screening, compact equipment, cranes and aerial work platforms, including PPM, Simon-Telelect, Powerscreen, Cedarapids, Demag Mobile Cranes and Genie.[26] Terex later reshaped its portfolio, selling its off-highway truck business to Volvo in 2014 and its Material Handling and Port Solutions business to Konecranes in 2017. In 2024 it acquired Dover Corporation’s Environmental Solutions Group, and in February 2026 it completed a merger with REV Group.[30] [26]
