Digital Imaging supplies visible-light, infrared and X-ray sensors, cameras and systems for industrial, government and medical uses, as well as microelectromechanical systems and specialized semiconductors. Instrumentation makes monitoring and control instruments, electronic test and measurement equipment, and interconnect products for harsh environments.[2]
Aerospace and Defense Electronics provides electronic components, subsystems and communications products for defense and aviation applications. Engineered Systems provides systems engineering, integration, software development and manufacturing solutions for defense, space, environmental and energy applications.[2] Based on 2025 net sales, Digital Imaging accounted for approximately 52% of revenue, Instrumentation 24%, Aerospace and Defense Electronics 17%, and Engineered Systems 7%.[26] [2][5][5][5][5][26]
Company history
Teledyne Technologies traces its roots to Teledyne, Inc., founded in 1960 by Henry Singleton and George Kozmetsky. Teledyne merged with Allegheny Ludlum in 1996 to form Allegheny Teledyne. In 1999, Allegheny Teledyne spun off its aerospace and electronics businesses as the independent, publicly traded Teledyne Technologies.[27][28][29][30]
Subsequent acquisitions expanded the company’s imaging and sensing capabilities. Teledyne acquired Rockwell Scientific in 2006, adding research and imaging-sensor operations; DALSA in 2011, broadening its digital-imaging business; and e2v in 2017, adding imaging sensors and other specialized electronics. Its 2021 acquisition of FLIR Systems substantially expanded its thermal-imaging portfolio.[31][32][33][34] [27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34]
