Overview
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapeutics, starting with eye care. Its marketed product, XDEMVY® (lotilaner ophthalmic solution) 0.25%, is approved in the United States to treat Demodex blepharitis; its pipeline also includes investigational programs in ocular rosacea and infectious disease prevention.[1][2] The company’s stated mission is “Serving patient needs is our passion; delivering revolutionary treatments is our mission.” [3]
Tarsus has a U.S.-centered commercial presence and announced a Greater China development and commercialization partnership for TP-03.[4] For scale, it reported $335.966 million in total revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2026, and 370 full-time employees as of December 31, 2025.[5][6] [1][2][3][4][5][6][3][4]
Products & services
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals’ marketed product is XDEMVY® (lotilaner ophthalmic solution) 0.25%, an FDA-approved treatment for Demodex blepharitis. Lotilaner is designed to paralyze and eradicate mites by inhibiting parasite-specific GABA-Cl channels.[7][8] XDEMVY was the company’s only marketed product in the reviewed disclosures.[9]
Its investigational pipeline includes TP-04, a lotilaner-based sterile aqueous ophthalmic gel being studied for ocular rosacea, and TP-05, an oral lotilaner tablet being developed for Lyme disease prophylaxis and community malaria reduction. Both programs were in Phase 2, according to the company’s 2026 second-quarter filing.[10][11][12][13] The company also acquired IRX-101 in July 2026: a stable aqueous chlorine dioxide solution under development as an ocular antiseptic intended to reduce post-procedural pain and corneal toxicity in patients receiving intravitreal therapy.[14][15]
Net product sales were $319.299 million in the first half of 2026, about 95% of total revenue of $335.966 million; the filing identifies XDEMVY as the company’s only marketed product.[5][9] The reviewed disclosures do not describe separate service offerings. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][5]
Geographic presence
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Irvine, California; its principal executive office is listed at 17700 Laguna Canyon Road, Floor 4, Irvine, California 92618. The company relocated its headquarters in April 2026.[16][17] Its commercial product XDEMVY is sold in the United States. The company reports product sales without a country or regional breakdown, so geographic revenue percentages are not available.[18][19][20]
Tarsus licensed TP-03 rights in China to GrandPharma; China is therefore a partner territory, not evidence of direct Tarsus sales. GrandPharma received approval in mainland China in March 2026, triggering a milestone payment to Tarsus. The company has also described exploring development and commercialization opportunities in Europe and Japan, but these are not identified as current sales markets.[21][22][23] Tarsus does not operate its own manufacturing facilities and relies on third parties for commercial and clinical/preclinical manufacturing.[24] No geographic breakdown of employees is disclosed in the reviewed filings. [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24]
Business segments
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals reports one operating and reportable segment, **therapeutics**, and manages its business on an aggregated basis rather than reporting separate commercial or research-and-development segments. The segment’s activities primarily include U.S. sales of XDEMVY through specialty pharmacies and distributors, as well as license and collaboration revenue from its China out-license. It therefore represents approximately **100% of reported segment revenue**.[25]
The single-segment structure is consistent with the company’s 2024 reporting.[26] [25][26]
Company history
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals was founded in November 2016 by Bobak (“Bobby”) Azamian and Michael Ackermann. Azamian became president and chief executive officer in September 2018.[18][27] The company completed its initial public offering on October 20, 2020, selling shares at $16 each.[28]
A major development in Tarsus’s history was its clinical program for TP-03, later named XDEMVY: the drug met primary and secondary endpoints in the Saturn-1 Phase 2b/3 trial in June 2021, and in the Saturn-2 Phase 3 trial in 2022.[29][30] The FDA accepted the company’s new drug application in November 2022 and approved XDEMVY for Demodex blepharitis in July 2023; Tarsus launched the product the following month.[31][32]
In 2026, Tarsus expanded beyond its existing portfolio through acquisitions. It completed the acquisition of iRenix Medical, adding the investigational retina asset IRX-101, and acquired Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, gaining worldwide rights to investigational ALK-001.[33][34] [18][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][33][34]
