SUBSEA7

Updated

Overview

Subsea7 is a global offshore-energy projects and services company, delivering work across oil and gas, offshore renewables and emerging energy. Its services span project design and engineering, subsea-system installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance and decommissioning; key offerings include SURF (subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines) and integrated subsea production-system services.[1]

The company operates in major offshore-energy regions worldwide and reported operations in 33 countries in its 2025 Annual Report. Its stated vision is “To make possible the global delivery of offshore energy for today and tomorrow.” In 2025, Subsea7 recorded revenue of $7.1 billion and had 13,821 employees at year-end.[4] [4]

Products & services

Subsea7’s enabling products include flowlines for transporting produced and injected fluids, with solutions addressing thermal management, flow assurance and corrosion resistance. Its named Electrically Heat-Traced Flowline (EHTF®) actively heats pipelines to support flow assurance; the company reports confirmed thermal performance of 0.38 W/m²K for Ærfugl Phase 1 and 0.54 W/m²K for Phase 2. The Phase 1 system included 20.3 km of 10-inch/16-inch pipe-in-pipe flowline.[7]

Pipeline Bundle systems integrate multiple pipelines and control lines within a carrier pipe, with components such as towheads and end manifolds. Subsea7 also supplies metallic and non-metallic deepwater riser systems, including coupled and decoupled configurations; its Buoy-Supported Riser (BSR) is one named configuration. Other enabling products include modular, configure-to-order structures for pipeline and flowline applications, and integrated foundations designed to be installed with a structure in a single operation from a pipeline vessel.[7]

Service offerings span concept development, design and engineering, procurement and fabrication, installation, commissioning, maintenance and other lifecycle work. Subsea7’s SURF scope covers subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines; subsea production systems may be delivered as a distinct, integrated scope. The company’s reported 2025 Subsea and Conventional revenue was $5.8 billion, a business-line figure rather than revenue attributed to individual products.[3] [14]

Geographic presence

Subsea7’s 2025 Annual Report reports operations in 33 countries, 80 projects completed and 13,821 people. The company describes its presence as spanning major offshore-energy regions worldwide, supported by local operations, joint ventures and partnerships.[4][5]

Brazil accounted for 24% of 2025 revenue. The annual report does not provide a complete geographic revenue split in the information available. Activity described in 2025 included projects in Brazil, Türkiye, the United States and Norway; renewables work in Europe and Taiwan; and gas projects in Australia. These are examples of activity, not a full list of operating countries.[15]

Subsea7’s official contact page lists its offices. Company project announcements also reference delivery locations including Stavanger, Aberdeen, Rio de Janeiro, Sutton, Suresnes, Paris, Perth and Kuala Lumpur. The reported group headcount is not broken down by region; the company’s contact page separately notes staff of over 80 nationalities across 36 countries.[17] [4]

Business segments

Subsea7 reports two operating segments: **Subsea and Conventional** and **Renewables**, with **Corporate** also disclosed separately. Subsea and Conventional covers offshore energy projects across engineering, procurement, construction and installation, as well as commissioning, maintenance, life extension and decommissioning. Renewables focuses mainly on fixed offshore wind, with activity in floating wind and other emerging-energy areas.[3][21]

In FY2025, revenue was $5,759.6 million for Subsea and Conventional (approximately **81.3%** of group revenue), $1,214.1 million for Renewables (approximately **17.1%**), and $112.6 million for Corporate (approximately **1.6%**), out of $7,086.3 million total. The percentages are calculated from reported revenue; Corporate is reported separately from the two operating segments.[22] [22]

Company history

Subsea 7 was formed on 23 May 2002 as a 50/50 joint venture combining Halliburton Subsea with DSND Subsea’s subsea activities. In 2004, DSND acquired Halliburton’s stake and the business was listed on the Oslo Børs as Subsea 7 Inc.[23][24] In January 2011, Subsea 7 Inc. combined with Acergy S.A. to form Subsea 7 S.A.[25] In 2017, the company acquired certain businesses and assets of EMAS Chiyoda Subsea through a Chapter 11 reorganisation, and in 2019 it acquired subsea technology company 4Subsea.[26][27] [23]
