Overview

Sprott Inc. is an asset manager focused on precious metals and critical materials. Its offerings include physical trusts, exchange-traded funds and equity strategies, alongside lending and streaming strategies. The company’s stated aspiration is to be the leading global asset manager in these areas, and it describes its investment approach as long-term, patient and persistent.[1]

Founded in 1981, Sprott reported US$55.6 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, and its corporate brochure cites more than 250,000 clients. Its listed offices are in Toronto and several U.S. locations; it reported approximately US$285.1 million in total revenue for FY2025.[10] [1]

Products & services

Sprott’s exchange-listed products include physical precious-metals trusts and ETFs, such as Sprott Physical Gold Trust (PHYS), Sprott Physical Silver Trust (PSLV), Sprott Physical Gold and Silver Trust, and Sprott Physical Platinum & Palladium Trust, as well as physical commodity products focused on uranium and copper. PHYS holds substantially all its assets in unencumbered, fully allocated London Good Delivery gold bars; eligible holders may redeem units for physical metal, subject to the trust’s requirements.[14][15] The Sprott Physical Uranium Trust invests substantially all its assets in U₃O₈, while the Physical Copper Trust holds physical copper and offers monthly physical redemptions subject to its terms.[16][17]

Sprott also offers resource-sector equity funds and ETFs, including the Sprott Gold Equity Fund, Sprott Focus Trust, and Sprott Active Gold & Silver Miners ETF (GBUG). Its listed offerings include sector-specific products such as uranium- and copper-miner ETFs, and the Sprott Rare Earths Ex-China ETF (REXC), which focuses on rare-earth companies outside China.[18]

Private strategies provide natural-resource-sector financing and investment through debt, royalties and streams, equity, and physical commodities. Described capabilities include project-development and acquisition financing, term loans, restructuring support, commodity-linked notes, streams, royalties, convertible notes, and equity investments.[21][22]

At June 30, 2026, reported assets under management were $47.946 billion in exchange-listed products, $5.619 billion in managed equities, and $1.997 billion in private strategies—approximately 86.3%, 10.1%, and 3.6% of total AUM, respectively. These are shares of AUM, not revenue or profit; the company’s Q2 2026 reporting does not provide product-level revenue mix percentages.[23] [23]

Geographic presence

Sprott Inc. is headquartered at Royal Bank Plaza, 200 Bay Street, Suite 2600, Toronto, Ontario, Canada [27]. It also identifies offices in New York, New York; Darien, Connecticut; and Carlsbad, California, and describes its client base as global [28][29]. These locations indicate an office footprint in Canada and the United States; no employee distribution by location was identified.

The 2025 annual report presents revenue by type rather than by geography, and no geographic revenue split was identified [30]. [27]

Company history

Sprott’s origins date to 1981, when Eric Sprott founded Sprott Securities, an institutional brokerage focused on smaller Canadian natural-resources companies. In 2001, he sold the brokerage to its employees and established Sprott Asset Management, shifting the firm toward investment management.[29][39]

Sprott Inc. was incorporated in February 2008 to acquire Sprott Asset Management and became publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange that May. It expanded into physical precious-metals trusts with Sprott Physical Gold Trust, established in 2009 and launched in 2010, and acquired Central Fund of Canada in January 2018.[40]

Further expansion included acquiring Tocqueville Asset Management’s gold strategies in January 2020 and converting Uranium Participation Corporation into Sprott Physical Uranium Trust in July 2021. In 2022, Sprott acquired assets related to the North Shore Global Uranium Mining ETF, and Whitney George became CEO, succeeding Peter Grosskopf.[44] [29]
