Overview
Somnigroup International Inc. is a global sleep-products and home-components company. Its portfolio includes branded mattresses and sleep products such as Tempur-Pedic, Sealy and Stearns & Foster; retail businesses including Mattress Firm and Dreams; and Leggett & Platt’s component-engineering and manufacturing operations, which serve bedding as well as furniture, flooring, textiles and other markets. The company’s operations span product design, component and finished-goods manufacturing, distribution and retail.[1][2][3]
Somnigroup states that its mission is to enrich lives and improve health worldwide through better sleep. Following its August 2026 combination with Leggett & Platt, it reported more than 36,000 colleagues and over 170 manufacturing facilities in 37 countries, with consumers served in more than 100 countries.[1][4] For scale, the company reported 2025 net sales of $7.477 billion; its investor overview gives a separate pro forma 2025 figure of more than $11 billion including Leggett & Platt.[5][3] [1][2][3][4][5][1][2][3][4]
Products & services
Somnigroup’s bedding portfolio includes Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Sleepy’s and non-branded/OEM products. Tempur-Pedic mattresses use proprietary TEMPUR material, designed to adapt to a sleeper’s shape, weight and temperature, and to reduce pressure points and motion transfer. Sealy emphasizes comfort, durability and support; its Posturepedic line is designed for full-body support and body alignment. Stearns & Foster mattresses combine engineering and newer technologies with traditional techniques and are made by specially trained certified craftsmen. Sleepy’s is a private-label brand, while the OEM business supplies non-branded mattresses, pillows, other bedding products and components to third-party retailers across price points.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12]
Services include Mattress Firm’s in-store and online product-matching assistance from trained Sleep Experts. Dreams, the UK multi-brand retailer, manufactures most of the bedding it sells in-house. Somnigroup’s filing described a new Stearns & Foster North American collection planned for 2026, with additional technologies, a wider hybrid range and refreshed styling. Disclosed revenue is reported by operating segment and sales channel rather than by individual product or brand, so product-level revenue percentages are not available in the cited disclosures.[13][14][15][16][17] [6][7][8][9][10][13][14][15][16][17][11][12]
Geographic presence
Somnigroup’s geographic footprint spans the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Its 2025 filing describes operations across those regions and sales in approximately 100 countries; 20.6% of 2025 net sales came from outside the United States.[18][19]
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, net sales were $3,625.0 million: $2,844.4 million in the United States (78.5%) and $780.6 million in “All other” (21.5%). The filing does not break the latter category down by country.[16] The 2025 principal-facility list includes manufacturers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Denmark and the United Kingdom.[20]
The company’s principal executive office was listed in Dallas, Texas, and its Mattress Firm business had more than 2,100 U.S. stores and 62 distribution centers at the end of 2025.[21][13][22] Following its 2026 combination with Leggett & Platt, Somnigroup reported more than 170 manufacturing facilities across 37 countries and over 36,000 colleagues; its overview states that its businesses serve consumers in more than 100 countries.[4][3] [18][19][16][16][16][20][20][20][20][20][20][20][21][13][22][4][3][4][3]
Business segments
For FY2025, Somnigroup International reported three operating segments: **Mattress Firm**, focused on U.S. retail stores and distribution centers; **Tempur Sealy North America**, covering manufacturing, distribution and retail subsidiaries and licensees in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, excluding Mattress Firm locations; and **Tempur Sealy International**, covering manufacturing, distribution and retail subsidiaries, joint ventures and licensees in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, excluding Mexico.[18][23]
Based on reported segment net sales of $3,505.4 million, $2,701.2 million and $1,269.9 million, respectively, and consolidated net sales of $7,476.5 million, the segments contributed approximately **46.9%**, **36.1%** and **17.0%** of FY2025 sales, respectively; these percentages are calculated from reported figures.[24] Mattress Firm was acquired on February 5, 2025, so its FY2025 reported contribution covers only the post-acquisition period.[25] [18][23][24][24][24][24][25]
Company history
Somnigroup’s history brings together several businesses with roots stretching back to the nineteenth century. Stearns & Foster traces its origins to 1846, while Sealy began in 1881 when Daniel Haynes started making mattresses in Sealy, Texas.[26][27]
The company’s later retail and mattress businesses developed over the twentieth century: Tempur-Pedic was founded in 1992 by Bobby Trussell, and Mattress Firm and Dreams opened their first stores in 1986 and 1987, respectively. Tempur-Pedic acquired Sealy in 2013, forming Tempur Sealy International; the company added UK retailer Dreams in 2021.[26][28][29][30]
In 2023, Tempur Sealy agreed to acquire Mattress Firm; the acquisition closed in February 2025. That month, Tempur Sealy changed its name to Somnigroup International, marking the company’s current name while bringing together businesses with distinct earlier histories.[31][32][33] [34][35][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33]
