Overview

Solventum Corp. is a global healthcare company that develops and supplies solutions supporting patient prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery, combining medical materials with data and digital capabilities. Its three core businesses are MedSurg, Dental Solutions and Health Information Systems. Products include wound-care and surgical supplies, dental and orthodontic products, and software for clinical documentation and coding.[1]

The company describes its mission as “Enabling better, smarter, safer healthcare to improve lives.” It operates globally, with operations in 38 countries. In FY2025, Solventum reported $8.325 billion in net sales and 20,584 employees.[6]

Solventum became an independent public company on April 1, 2024, following its spin-off from 3M.[10] [1]

Products & services

Solventum’s continuing product portfolio spans MedSurg, Dental Solutions and Health Information Systems. In FY2025, these segments generated $4.817 billion, $1.349 billion and $1.360 billion in sales, respectively—approximately 57.9%, 16.2% and 16.3% of total company sales.[8]

MedSurg products include negative-pressure wound therapy, advanced wound dressings and skin-care products, tissue matrices, IV-site management products, sterilization assurance, temperature-management systems, surgical supplies, tapes and wraps, stethoscopes and electrodes. V.A.C. Therapy uses programmed negative pressure to support wound management, while Prevena is designed for closed-incision management; Tegaderm CHG dressings combine catheter securement with chlorhexidine antimicrobial protection. Attest products monitor sterilization processes, and Bair Hugger systems provide patient warming and temperature management.[3]

Dental Solutions includes products for prevention, restorative dentistry and orthodontics, including brackets, aligners, restorative cements and bonding agents. Filtek Universal Restorative is a composite for anterior and posterior restorations; RelyX Universal Resin Cement supports self-adhesive or adhesive cementation. Clarity Aligners are custom aligners available in two thicknesses, and the portfolio also includes Clarity ceramic brackets.[4]

Health Information Systems offers software for computer-assisted physician documentation, coding automation, classification, speech recognition and data visualization. Solventum 360 Encompass supports hospital coding, clinical documentation improvement and audit workflows; Fluency Direct provides speech recognition for creating clinical notes in electronic health records. Solventum sold its Purification & Filtration business in 2025; its former portfolio included biopharmaceutical filtration and purification products, while residential drinking-water filtration was excluded from the sale.[5] [8]

Geographic presence

In the second quarter of 2026, Solventum reported net sales of $1.313 billion in the United States (59.4%) and $896 million internationally (40.6%). For full-year 2025, U.S. sales were $4.668 billion and international sales were $3.657 billion—approximately 56.1% and 43.9% of total sales, respectively. The company reports revenue geographically as U.S. and International, rather than providing a country-by-country breakdown; sales are generally attributed to the geography from which the customer invoice originated.[24]

At December 31, 2025, Solventum had 20,584 employees: 10,308 in the U.S. and 10,276 internationally. Its January 2026 corporate fact sheet describes 41 manufacturing sites in 18 countries and more than 2,700 global R&D team members. The company overview describes operations in 38 countries and more than 300 offices and facilities.[9]

Identified U.S. locations include the Eagan, Minnesota headquarters and R&D hub, and a manufacturing site in Brookings, South Dakota; the company has also described a manufacturing plant in PuJiang, China. Its reportable operating segments are product-based rather than geographic, so the company does not present separate geographic operating segments.[29] [24]

Business segments

Solventum reports three current operating segments: MedSurg, Dental Solutions, and Health Information Systems. In fiscal 2025, MedSurg generated $4.817 billion in revenue, approximately 57.9% of consolidated net sales. Its products and services include wound therapy and care, skin care, IV-site management, sterilization assurance, temperature management, surgical supplies, and medical technologies.[3][33]

Dental Solutions generated $1.349 billion, or approximately 16.2% of fiscal 2025 net sales, with products including dental and orthodontic brackets, aligners, restorative cements, and bonding agents. Health Information Systems generated $1.360 billion, approximately 16.3% of net sales, and provides healthcare software for physician documentation, coding, classification, speech recognition, and data visualization.[4] These approximate shares are calculated from segment revenue and consolidated net sales of $8.325 billion. The company’s fiscal 2025 reporting also presented Purification and Filtration and All Other separately; the latest filing confirms the three-segment structure following the Purification and Filtration sale.[33][34] [3]

Company history

Solventum traces its business legacy to 3M’s Health Care operations, which had more than 70 years of healthcare-innovation history before the company became independent. In 2019, 3M acquired Acelity and its KCI subsidiaries, adding advanced wound-care and specialty surgical products to the healthcare business.[35][36]

In November 2023, 3M announced Solventum as the name of its planned independent healthcare company. The spin-off was completed on April 1, 2024, establishing Solventum as a standalone public company.[37][38] In 2025, Solventum completed the sale of its Purification and Filtration business and acquired Acera Surgical, expanding its acute-care portfolio.[39][40] [36]
