Overview

Semtech Corporation is a semiconductor and IoT technology company whose products support data-center networking, communications infrastructure, and connected devices across industrial, consumer, and other markets. Its three operating segments are Signal Integrity; Analog Mixed Signal and Wireless; and IoT Systems and Connectivity. The portfolio includes signal-integrity and connectivity products, protection and sensing devices, LoRa and other wireless technologies, and IoT modules and services.[1]

Semtech’s stated vision is to provide innovative technology solutions for a smarter, more connected, sustainable planet.[5] The company reports 37 design, applications, and sales offices in 16 countries, spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.[6] It reported FY2026 net sales of approximately $1.05 billion; a company report lists 1,915 employees in 2025.[7][8] Semtech was incorporated in 1960.[1] [1]

Products & services

Semtech’s product portfolio includes Signal Integrity ICs for optical and copper data communications and video transport, serving applications such as data centers, enterprise networks, PON and wireless-base-station transceivers. Its high-speed products span 100 Mbps to 1.6 Tbps and support standards including Ethernet, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand, PON and synchronous optical networks. One example is the FiberEdge GN1848, a quad-channel 56-GBd PAM4 linear VCSEL driver for 400G/800G Ethernet ([product details](https://www.semtech.com/products/signal-integrity/laser-drivers-transceivers/gn1848)). Its Analog Mixed Signal and Wireless products include transient-voltage suppressors for ESD, electrical over-stress and surge protection; sensing, RF, LoRa, power-management, wireless-charging and professional audio/video products. The SX1262 LoRa transceiver supports LoRa and (G)FSK, up to +22 dBm transmit power and 4.2 mA receive current ([product details](https://www.semtech.com/products/wireless-rf/lora-connect/sx1262)).

IoT Systems and Connectivity products include modules, gateways and routers with LTE-M, NB-IoT and 5G connectivity. Related services include wireless connectivity and cloud offerings for device and data management, subscriptions, geolocation, reporting and configurable alerts. In FY2026, net sales were $322.6 million for Signal Integrity, $373.4 million for Analog Mixed Signal and Wireless, and $353.9 million for IoT Systems and Connectivity—30.7%, 35.6% and 33.7% of total sales, respectively. Products accounted for $942.1 million (89.7%) of net sales and services $107.9 million (10.3%). The FY2026 annual report does not provide revenue percentages for individual named products. [9]

Geographic presence

Semtech’s sales are predominantly outside the United States: in FY2026, 18% of net sales were attributed to the U.S. and 47% to China, including Hong Kong; Taiwan accounted for 6%, and no other geography outside the U.S. exceeded 5%.[14] The company reported that its third-party foundry suppliers are located in China, Israel, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, while significant assembly and test operations are conducted by contractors in China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.[15]

As of January 25, 2026, Semtech had 1,920 full-time employees worldwide, including 1,437 outside the U.S.; it does not provide a country-by-country employee breakdown in the cited disclosure.[16] Its listed facilities span the U.S., Canada, Switzerland, Taiwan, India, the U.K. and China, with locations including its headquarters in Camarillo, California.[17][18] [14]

Business segments

Semtech reports three operating and reportable segments. In FY2026, for the year ended January 25, 2026, Signal Integrity generated $322.6 million in net sales, approximately 30.7% of total sales. It focuses on optical and copper data-communications and video-transport products, including integrated circuits used in data centers, enterprise networks, PON, and wireless-base-station optical transceivers.[7][9]

Analog Mixed Signal and Wireless generated $373.4 million, approximately 35.6% of sales; its products include protection and sensing devices, wireless and RF products such as LoRa, power-management devices, and professional audio/video-over-IP products. IoT Systems and Connectivity generated $353.9 million, approximately 33.7% of sales, with IoT modules, gateways, routers, connected services, and connectivity technologies including LTE-M, NB-IoT, and 5G. Percentages are calculated from segment and total net sales.[7] [7]

Company history

Semtech was founded in 1960 by Gustav H.D. Franzen and Harvey Stump, Jr., initially making discrete semiconductors for military and aerospace customers.[20][21] It expanded its portfolio through acquisitions including Polycore Electronics in 1988, Lambda Semiconductors in 1990 and Modupower assets in 1992.[22][23]

In 2012, Semtech completed its acquisition of Gennum, adding optical and high-speed analog technologies, and acquired Cycleo, whose low-power, long-range wireless technology became the basis for LoRa.[24][25] Semtech completed its acquisition of Sierra Wireless in January 2023, adding cellular IoT connectivity to its portfolio.[26] Paul H. Pickle became president and CEO in 2023; Hong Q. Hou was appointed to the role effective June 6, 2024.[27][28] [21]
