Company history
Salesforce was founded in 1999 by Marc Benioff and Parker Harris, together with Frank Dominguez and Dave Moellenhoff, and began as a cloud-based software company focused on delivering business applications over the internet rather than through traditional on-premise software models.[3][40] The company went public in June 2004, marking an early milestone in the growth of the software-as-a-service model.[41] Salesforce then broadened its platform with the launch of AppExchange in 2006, creating a marketplace for third-party business applications, and with the launch of Service Cloud in 2009, extending its reach beyond sales automation into customer service software.[42][43]
