SAIC Motor Corporation Limited is a Chinese automotive company that manufactures and sells vehicles and parts, with activities that also include service trade and automotive finance. SAIC Motor is based in Shanghai, China, where its office is located in Jing’an District. China is its principal market: in 2024, it reported RMB 528.93 billion in revenue for China and RMB 98.66 billion for its “Others” geographic category, approximately 84% and 16% of the combined regional total, respectively. Company history
SAIC Motor Corporation Limited was established as a stock company in 1997, with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation as its sole founding sponsor. It issued domestic A shares for public trading on November 7 that year.[19] In 2011, SAIC Motor undertook a restructuring to acquire automotive-parts, vehicle-service and new-energy-vehicle assets and equity interests from its parent group and an affiliated company. The asset transfer and related share issuance were completed in December 2011.[20][21]
The company sold 6.93 million vehicles in 2017.[22] Its overseas vehicle sales reached 1.017 million in 2022, marking a later milestone in the expansion of its international business.[23] [19][20][21][22][23]
