Overview
Roivant Sciences Ltd. is a biopharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes medicines through focused subsidiary companies called “Vants.” It also incubates discovery-stage companies and health-technology startups that complement its biopharmaceutical business. Roivant describes its mission as improving patients’ lives by accelerating the development and commercialization of medicines that matter.[1] The company was founded in 2014.[2]
Its business is defined by developing a portfolio of medicines, including candidates for autoimmune and pulmonary diseases. Roivant’s listed office locations are New York City and Basel, Switzerland.[3] For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, it reported revenue of $8.3 million, primarily from Genevant license agreements.[4] [1][2][3][4][2][3]
Products & services
Roivant’s marketed product is LISRAYA™ (brepocitinib), an oral, once-daily JAK1/TYK2 inhibitor approved in the U.S. for adults with dermatomyositis [5]. Brepocitinib is also being developed for non-infectious uveitis, cutaneous sarcoidosis, and lichen planopilaris; a Phase 3 non-infectious uveitis study has been initiated [6][7].
Other named clinical-stage products include IMVT-1402, a fully human anti-FcRn monoclonal antibody being studied for autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, Graves’ disease, myasthenia gravis, CIDP, and Sjögren’s disease [6]. In an early study, weekly 600 mg dosing reduced mean total IgG by 74% after four doses; development for cutaneous lupus erythematosus was later discontinued after the proof-of-concept study missed its primary endpoint [8][9][10]. Mosliciguat is an inhaled soluble guanylate cyclase activator in development for pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease; its Phase 2 study reported a 56.3% reduction in pulmonary vascular resistance versus placebo at Week 16, and Phase 3 development was underway [11][12]. Company disclosures describe drug discovery capabilities including quantitative proteomics, induced proximity, and covalency; they do not identify a separate external service offering [13]. [8][9][11][13][5][6][7][10][12]
Geographic presence
Roivant lists its principal executive-office address in London, UK, and maintains offices in New York and Basel, Switzerland [14][15][3]. Its subsidiary Roivant Sciences, Inc. leases 54,702 square feet at One Penn Plaza in New York for the U.S. corporate headquarters; Roivant reports that it owns no properties [16][17].
The company states that its employees and operations are primarily located in the United States [18]. Its clinical development includes a global, multicenter Phase 2 trial [19]. Roivant does not disclose revenue by country or region, or an employee headcount by geography, in the cited FY2026 materials [20]. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][3]
Business segments
Roivant Sciences Ltd. reports one operating and reportable segment: the discovery, development and commercialization of medicines and technologies. Its CEO is the chief operating decision maker; the company does not report separate GAAP segments by Vant, therapeutic area, or product.[21][20]
For the year ended March 31, 2026, the sole reportable segment accounted for all reported consolidated revenue: $8.260 million, or 100% of segment revenue. Roivant describes its Vants as independently managed biotech companies with their own missions and product candidates, but does not disclose their individual revenue contributions as reportable segments.[22][23][21] [21][20][22][23]
Company history
Roivant Sciences was founded on April 7, 2014, by Vivek Ramaswamy. Initially registered as Valor Biotechnology Ltd., it adopted the Roivant name in November 2014 and developed a model of building focused subsidiary biotechnology companies, or “Vants.” [24][25][26] In 2015, its subsidiary Axovant completed an initial public offering, an early example of the Vant model.[27][28]
In December 2019, Roivant transferred interests in five Vants—Myovant, Urovant, Enzyvant, Altavant and Spirovant—to Sumitomo Pharma.[29] A Myovant-developed medicine, relugolix (Orgovyx), was approved by the FDA for advanced prostate cancer in December 2020.[30] In January 2021, Ramaswamy stepped down as CEO and Matthew Gline took the role; Roivant completed its business combination with Montes Archimedes Acquisition Corp. in September 2021 and began trading on Nasdaq as ROIV.[31][26][32] Roivant and Pfizer formed Telavant in 2022 to develop RVT-3101; Roche acquired Telavant in December 2023.[33][34] In October 2024, Organon completed its acquisition of Dermavant.[35] [24][25][29][31][33][34][35][26][27][28][30][32]
