Products & services
Rocket Mortgage is Rocket Companies’ core mortgage product and servicing platform. It uses automated data retrieval and advanced underwriting technology to provide a digital mortgage process through the Rocket Mortgage app and website, where clients can apply for mortgages, interact with team members, upload documents, e-sign documents, receive statements and make monthly payments. Through the same platform, servicing clients can view loan information and activity, track home value and equity, and receive personalized videos explaining topics such as escrow changes. In the Partner Network channel, Rocket Pro extends Rocket’s technology, loan products and operational support to independent mortgage professionals so they can offer mortgages under their own brands while keeping client relationships.[15][16][17]
Other named products and services broaden the offering around homeownership and personal finance. Rocket Homes is a proprietary home-search platform and real-estate agent referral network that lets consumers search listings, connect with agents, obtain mortgage approval through Rocket Mortgage, and buy or sell properties with one-on-one support. Rocket Close, formerly Amrock, provides title, settlement and appraisal management services using proprietary technology integrated into the Rocket platform through closing. Rocket Money is a personal finance app focused on subscription cancellation, budget management and credit-score improvement, while Rocket Loans offers personal loans through a single automated technology platform aimed at prime borrowers. In Canada, Lendesk provides mortgage software, including a point-of-sale system for mortgage professionals and a loan origination system for private lenders.[18][9][10][19][11]
The product set is supported by a technology stack that Rocket says has been developed in modules for agile enhancements, partner onboarding and expansion into new channels, with a proprietary data-driven decision engine that monitors in-progress transactions and recommends tasks to team members. The company also reports more than 10 petabytes of data and over 65 million call logs annually as inputs to its AI-enabled platform. Company history
Rocket Companies traces its roots to June 1985, when Dan Gilbert founded Rock Financial as a mortgage broker; by 1988, the business had become a mortgage lender.[35][36] In the late 1990s it emphasized technology and online lending, introducing “Mortgage in a Box” in 1996, committing in 1998 to move the mortgage process online, and launching RockLoans.com in 1999; around that period, the company also adopted the Quicken Loans name.[37][38][39][40]
Intuit acquired the predecessor business in December 1999, but in 2002 an investor group led by Gilbert bought Quicken Loans back, restoring founder-led ownership.[41] The company’s next major brand and product milestone came in 2015 with the launch of Rocket Mortgage, its digital mortgage platform.[42] In 2020, Rocket Companies became a public company and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RKT, and in 2021 Quicken Loans formally changed its name to Rocket Mortgage.
