Ringkjøbing Landbobank is a Danish retail and commercial bank serving personal and business customers. Its core business is full-service banking, with a strong regional presence in West, Central and North Jutland and branches in Copenhagen and Aarhus. Specialist activities include private banking and asset management, financing for medical and dental practices, and lending to renewable-energy businesses, alongside selected wholesale and property lending.[1]
The bank describes its customer-focused approach in terms of protecting customer information and acting competently, responsively and properly toward customers, society and other stakeholders. Its 2025 total core income was DKK 4,089 million; it reported 688 employees at year-end and 683 average full-time equivalents. Total core income was DKK 1,049 million in the first quarter of 2026.[2][3][4] [1][2][3][4]
Products & services
Ringkjøbing Landbobank offers full-service banking to personal and business customers, including Private Banking and asset management for affluent clients. Its specialist financing includes loans for doctors’ and dentists’ private practices; renewable-energy projects such as wind turbines, batteries, solar installations and biogas plants; and selected wholesale and real-property financing. The bank also identifies sustainable-asset financing, including renewable energy and energy efficiency, as a lending area.[1][5] Its investment services include securities trading, asset management and custody accounts.[1][6]
Other reported services include payment handling, loan fees, guarantees and mortgage-credit commissions, pension and insurance commissions, and foreign-exchange services. Customers can use Netbank Privat and Netbank Erhverv, and the bank provides a secure online customer room for exchanging documents and confidential information.[7][8][9][10] In FY2025, net fee and commission income was DKK 1,119.9 million. Of that amount, guarantee and mortgage-credit commission represented about 25.7%, asset management and custody 23.3%, securities trading 17.5%, payment handling 13.7%, pension and insurance commission 8.9%, loan fees 7.8%, and other fees 3.2%. These percentages are shares of net fee and commission income, not total bank income.[7] [1][5][7][6][8][9][10]
Geographic presence
Ringkjøbing Landbobank’s stated home markets are West, Central and North Jutland, Copenhagen and Aarhus. It describes its operations as Denmark-based, with no subsidiaries or branches in other countries or tax jurisdictions and no offshore banking services [11][12]. Its branch directory includes Ringkøbing, Brønderslev, Frederikshavn, Herning, Hjørring, Holstebro, Holte/Virum, Copenhagen, Læsø, Nørresundby, Skagen, Sæby, Tarm, Vejle, Viborg, Vildbjerg, Aabybro, Aalborg (including Hasseris and Vejgaard) and Aarhus [13]. The FY2025 annual report does not provide a geographic breakdown of employees or revenue [11][13]. [11][12][13]
Business segments
Ringkjøbing Landbobank’s 2025 annual report and 2026 Q1 interim report do not report revenue, profit or other financial results by business segment; results are presented at bank level [14][15]. The bank describes two principal customer areas: personal banking and business banking, both offering full-service banking in its regional markets [1]. Renewable-energy financing—including wind, solar, biogas and battery projects—is identified as an important specialist business area, rather than a separately quantified reporting segment [16].
No official segment contribution percentages are reported. As a limited balance-sheet proxy, a table in the 2025 report lists DKK 14.6bn of personal-customer loans and DKK 43.5bn of business-customer loans—approximately 25% and 75%, respectively, of those listed loans; this is not a definitive segment split of total lending or income [17]. The report also gives loan-and-guarantee portfolio exposures of 19.5% to real property, 12.8% to finance and insurance, 7.2% to agriculture, and 6.8% to renewable energy; these are industry exposures, not business-segment contribution percentages [18]. Company history
Ringkjøbing Landbobank was founded in 1886 in Ringkøbing by local farmers as a bank serving agricultural communities in central and western Jutland.[19][20] It expanded through acquisitions, including Tarm Bank in 2002, and began financing wind turbines in 1995, later developing specialist lending for other renewable-energy projects.[21][22]
John Bull Fisker, who had worked at the bank since 1995 and joined its management board in 1999, became CEO on 1 May 2012.[23] The bank opened a private-banking branch in Aarhus in 2014.[24]
A major structural milestone followed in 2018, when Ringkjøbing Landbobank merged with Nordjyske Bank, with Ringkjøbing Landbobank as the continuing entity.[25] In 2022, it established a Copenhagen private-banking branch through a partnership with SEB and took over SEB’s Danish private-banking portfolio.[26] [26][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]
