Company profile

Rigetti Computing, Inc.

Updated

Overview

Rigetti Computing, Inc. develops and operates quantum computers, with a focus on superconducting quantum computing. Its vertically integrated, full-stack business spans quantum-chip design and manufacturing through cloud delivery, including its Fab-1 wafer facility. The company states its mission is “to build the world’s most powerful computers to help solve humanity’s most important and pressing problems.” [1]

Rigetti is headquartered in Berkeley, California, with its Fab-1 facility in Fremont; its operations also include locations in London, Adelaide, British Columbia and Mumbai. For scale, FY2025 revenue was $7.088 million, and the company had 164 employees as of December 31, 2025, according to a third-party employee listing.[4] [1]

Products & services

Rigetti’s named quantum-computing systems include the Novera™ 9-qubit system and the Cepheus™ systems. Novera is an on-premises system intended for customers with their own cryogenic and control infrastructure; its QPU uses a 9-qubit chip with tunable couplers for two-qubit operations, alongside a separate 5-qubit chip for single-qubit testing. Rigetti reports median 99.8% two-qubit gate fidelity at 40 ns and 99.9% one-qubit fidelity for its 9-qubit system, based on internal testing.[8] Cepheus-1-108Q, announced as generally available in 2026, comprises twelve interconnected 9-qubit chiplets. Rigetti reports internal-test median two-qubit fidelity of 99.1% at approximately 60 ns and median single-gate fidelity of 99.9%; the system is accessible through Rigetti QCS, Amazon Braket, Microsoft Azure Quantum, and qBraid.[11][12] Rigetti also identifies Cepheus-1-36Q as a prior 36-qubit system.[12]

Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services (QCS®) provides cloud access to its quantum computers and supports public, private, or hybrid cloud environments; developer resources include the QCS API and Quil SDK/pyQuil.[8] Other offerings include sales of quantum processing units and systems, development and collaborative-research contracts, and professional services.[15] Rigetti reports that Novera systems and related products made up a significant, but unquantified, portion of revenue in the first half of 2026; it does not provide a specific product-revenue percentage.[18] [8]

Geographic presence

Rigetti Computing is headquartered in Berkeley, California, and lists a leased office there of approximately 15,625 square feet. Its Fab-1 facility is in Fremont, California, and is approximately 53,800 square feet. The company reports offices and personnel in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada; it also identifies operations in London, Adelaide, British Columbia, and Mumbai.[19]

For FY2025, approximately 47.3% of revenue was generated outside the United States, compared with 41.4% in FY2024; the filing does not provide country-by-country revenue shares. Rigetti identifies U.S. and UK operations as its primary revenue sources. It also reported a planned quantum-computer deployment at C-DAC’s Bengaluru site in the second half of 2026, while noting UK-based work on a system hosted at the National Quantum Computing Centre.[20] [19]

Business segments

Rigetti Computing reports one operating and reportable segment, managed on a consolidated basis; it does not report hardware, cloud services, or research as separate segments. The company’s revenue categories therefore describe activities within that single segment, rather than additional reportable segments.[24][25]

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, revenue was $9.538 million: sales of quantum computers and components were $7.144 million (approximately 74.9%); collaborative research and professional services, $2.251 million (23.6%); and access to quantum-computing systems, $0.143 million (1.5%).[26][15] For full-year 2025, revenue was $7.088 million: collaborative research and professional services contributed $6.676 million (approximately 94.2%), and access to quantum-computing systems contributed $0.412 million (5.8%); the filing reported no revenue in its combined category for collaborative research materials and quantum-computer sales.[27]

Geographic revenue is another disaggregation, not a segment breakdown. In 2025, the United States accounted for $3.732 million (approximately 52.7%), Europe $3.167 million (44.7%), and Asia and other regions $0.189 million (2.7%).[28][29] [24]

Company history

Founded in 2013 by physicist Chad Rigetti, the company established Fab-1, a dedicated quantum-processor fabrication facility, and began providing cloud access to quantum computers. It released its 16-qubit Aspen-1 system in 2018 and acquired quantum-software company QxBranch in 2019.[30]

Rigetti announced an 80-qubit Aspen-M system in 2021 and made it commercially available through its cloud service in 2022. In March 2022, it completed a business combination with Supernova Partners Acquisition Company II and began trading on Nasdaq as RGTI.[33]

In December 2022, founder Chad Rigetti left the CEO role and Subodh Kulkarni became president and CEO. The company launched its first commercially available QPU, Novera, in December 2023, followed by its 84-qubit Ankaa-3 system in December 2024. In 2025, it announced general availability of Cepheus-1-36Q, a 36-qubit system built from four chiplets.[36] [30]
