Company history
Honeywell announced the planned spin-off of its Homes and Global Distribution businesses on October 10, 2017; those businesses formed the basis of Resideo’s home-products and distribution operations. Resideo Technologies, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware on April 24, 2018, and became an independent, publicly traded company on October 29, 2018, when Honeywell distributed Resideo shares to its shareholders.[25][26][27] Jay Geldmacher became president and chief executive officer in May 2020.[28]
In 2022, Resideo completed its acquisition of First Alert, adding the home-safety products business to its portfolio.[29] In June 2024, it acquired Snap One, a provider of smart-living products, services, and software.[30] In 2025, Resideo announced plans to spin off ADI Global Distribution as a separate public company; the separation was still described as planned in the company’s 2026 first-quarter report.[31][32] [26][27][30][31][32][25][28][29]
