REPLIGEN CORP

Updated

Overview

Repligen Corp. is a life-sciences company focused on bioprocessing technologies and systems used in biologics manufacturing. Its four core product franchises are filtration, chromatography, process analytics, and proteins, serving biopharmaceutical customers around the world. The company frames its purpose around advancing bioprocessing to improve manufacturing efficiency and flexibility [1][2]. Its operations span North America, Europe, and Asia [3].

Repligen reported approximately $738.3 million in revenue for 2025 and approximately 2,000 employees [4][5]. [1]

Products & services

Repligen’s filtration portfolio includes XCell® ATF alternating tangential-flow systems for cell retention in perfusion, N-1 seed-train intensification, intensified fed-batch and continuous manufacturing. The systems are available in single-use and stainless-steel formats and scale from laboratory use to bioreactors up to 5,000 L. KrosFlo® TFF systems support tangential-flow filtration from research through commercial production, using hollow-fiber filters or flat-sheet cassettes. TangenX® cassettes are used for ultrafiltration, concentration, buffer exchange and formulation.[6]

Chromatography products include OPUS® pre-packed columns supplied with customer-selected resin in disposable or campaign-use formats, from small-scale columns to manufacturing formats with 2.5–80 cm internal diameters. KRM™ configurable chromatography systems use closed, single-use flow paths. Process analytics products include SoloVPE® and SoloVPE PLUS slope-spectroscopy systems for offline or at-line protein concentration measurement, and FlowVPX® for real-time measurement during GMP biologics manufacturing. The portfolio also includes MAVERICK, MAVEN, REBEL and ZipChip analytical instruments.[10]

Other products include LONG® R3 IGF-1 and LONG® EGF proteins, as well as single-use fluid-management components such as bags, tubing, valves, totes, carts and mixers; ProConnex® MixOne RG-X is a single-use mixer. Repligen offers Essential, Protected and Complete service plans with different repair, maintenance and technical-support coverage.[14] In FY2025, filtration, chromatography, process analytics and proteins represented approximately 54.6%, 20.8%, 11.0% and 13.2% of product revenue, respectively, based on reported category sales.[17] [6]

Geographic presence

Repligen’s FY2025 revenue by customer location was 49% North America, 34% Europe, and 17% Asia Pacific and Rest of World. The company defines Rest of World as Central and South America and Africa. Its filing does not provide a U.S.-only share in this breakdown.[18][19]

The FY2025 filing lists properties in the United States (Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, New York, and New Hampshire), France, Estonia, Sweden, and Ireland. Waltham, Massachusetts is identified as corporate headquarters, with manufacturing, research and development, marketing, and administrative functions. The company also describes manufacturing and assembly operations in Germany (Ravensburg and Braunschweig), the Netherlands (Breda), and Taiwan (Taoyuan City), alongside sites in the United States and several European countries.[20][21]

At year-end 2025, Repligen reported approximately 390 employees in its global commercial team: about 200 in North America, 110 in Europe, and 80 in APAC; this is a commercial-team breakdown, not total employee distribution.[22] Repligen completed the sale of Polymem S.A.S. on March 30, 2026, so the FY2025 listing of its Toulouse, France property should not be read as an unchanged current owned footprint.[23] [18]

Business segments

Repligen reports one reportable segment, managed and reviewed on a consolidated basis; its product lines are not separate reportable segments.[24][25] For fiscal 2025, product revenue was approximately $738.0 million. By product line, the approximate shares of product revenue were: Filtration products, $402.8 million (54.6%), including filtration and fluid-management offerings for bioprocessing; Chromatography products, $153.2 million (20.8%), for downstream purification and quality control; Process analytics products, $81.2 million (11.0%), including process analytical technology; Proteins products, $97.4 million (13.2%), including affinity protein ligands and resins and cell-culture growth factors; and Other, $3.3 million (0.4%). These are product-line shares, not segment contributions.[17] [24]

Company history

Founded in 1981 by scientists Paul Schimmel and Alexander Rich, Repligen initially developed products for the life sciences, including Protein A ligands, which it has manufactured since 1985.[29][30] In 2014, it acquired Refine Technology’s bioprocessing business, adding its Alternating Tangential Flow system, and sold its histone deacetylase inhibitor drug-development portfolio—a shift toward bioprocessing technology.[31]

From 2016 through 2021, acquisitions including TangenX, Spectrum, C Technologies, ARTeSYN, Avitide and Polymem expanded Repligen’s offerings across filtration, process analytics, bioprocess systems and affinity technologies.[34] In 2024, Olivier Loeillot succeeded Tony Hunt as president and CEO; that year Repligen also acquired Tantti Laboratory, adding chromatography-bead technology.[40] In 2025, it acquired 908 Devices’ desktop portfolio of four bioprocessing analytical devices.[43] [32]
