Products & services
RenaissanceRe offers property catastrophe reinsurance, primarily excess-of-loss and retrocessional coverage that protects insurers and reinsurers against losses above specified attachment points, up to contractual limits. Covered perils include hurricanes, earthquakes, windstorms, floods, fires, winter storms, tornadoes, explosions and terrorism. Policies may cover property damage as well as business interruption and other non-property losses, on a worldwide or geographically limited basis. Other Property offerings include proportional reinsurance, property-per-risk reinsurance, property insurance and reinsurance, delegated-authority arrangements, and regional U.S. multiline reinsurance.[10][11]
Casualty & Specialty products include general casualty (auto liability, casualty clash, employers’ liability, umbrella and excess casualty, workers’ compensation, and general liability); professional liability (directors’ and officers’, medical malpractice, professional indemnity, and transactional liability); credit (financial guaranty, mortgage guaranty, political risk, surety, and trade credit); and other specialty lines including accident and health, agriculture, aviation, construction, cyber, energy, marine, satellite, and terrorism.[12][13][14][15] In 2025, Property represented 42.1% of gross written premiums and Casualty & Specialty 57.9%; within those segments, catastrophe was 67.1% of Property premiums, while other specialty, general casualty, credit, and professional liability represented 34.6%, 31.6%, 18.0%, and 15.8% of Casualty & Specialty premiums, respectively.[7][16][17]
The company’s REMS© capability supports contract pricing and exposure management, including risk-and-return analysis, risk capture, correlation, portfolio aggregation, and capital allocation across natural and non-natural hazards; it combines proprietary software and industry data and can represent perils or geographies beyond those in commercial natural-hazard models.[18][19] Through Capital Partners, RenaissanceRe forms and manages joint ventures and managed funds, structures reinsurance transactions to assume or cede risk, and provides third-party capital management. DaVinci, a managed joint venture formed by RenaissanceRe, supplies additional global capacity for property catastrophe and certain casualty and specialty reinsurance.[20][21] [10][11][12][13][14][15][7][7][16][17][17][17][17][18][19][20][21]
