Overview

Persimmon plc is a UK housebuilder whose core business is developing and selling new homes. It operates in the UK and reports housebuilding as its operating segment; its three brands—Persimmon Homes, Charles Church and Westbury Partnerships—serve different parts of the housing market.[1][2] The company’s stated mission is to build homes with quality customers can rely on at a price they can afford.[3]

Persimmon reported Group revenue of £3,751.3 million for 2025, and its corporate profile reported 4,605 direct employees at 31 December 2025.[4][5] For the six months ended 30 June 2026, Group revenue was £1,727.1 million.[6] [1]

Products & services

Persimmon’s residential products are marketed through three brands: Persimmon Homes, its core affordable-home range; Charles Church, its premium homes brand; and Westbury Partnerships, which supplies homes for housing associations, institutional customers and build-to-rent. In FY2025, the group reported 11,905 completions: 8,730 Persimmon Homes, 1,100 Charles Church and 2,075 Westbury Partnerships—approximately 73%, 9% and 17% of completions, respectively. These figures describe completion volume, not revenue mix.[7]

Persimmon’s house types span one to five bedrooms, with regional availability varying by type. Examples include the three-bedroom Stanton, Sherwood Bay and Saunton; four-bedroom Marston and Knebworth; and five-bedroom Wychwood, Knebworth DT and Brightstone. Layout features shown across the ranges include utility rooms, downstairs WCs and space for a home office.[11]

The Persimmon Eco Range includes solar panels, EV charging and enhanced loft insulation, with features varying between homes. Buyers can choose optional finishes and additions through Persimmon’s Finishing Touches service, including kitchen and bathroom finishes, flooring, storage, fixtures and garden items; availability depends on the home and its construction stage. Customer support includes the Persimmon Pledge and a 10-year new-home warranty. Charles Church offers its own Select Options upgrades and states a two-year warranty alongside a 10-year new-home warranty.[15] [7]

Geographic presence

Persimmon’s latest available annual reporting is for 2025. It reports one operating segment, UK housebuilding, and does not disclose revenue by UK region or country.[1][20]

The Group describes a network of 29 regional businesses, with its headquarters in York and operations extending from North Scotland to South West England. Its regional footprint includes England, Scotland and Wales.[21][22]

Persimmon’s 2025 presentation gives a geographic split of strategic land—not revenue—of 27% Yorkshire and North East, 19% South West, 17% North West and Scotland, 16% Central and Wales, 15% Eastern and 6% Southern.[23] The company reported 4,605 direct employees at 31 December 2025; a regional employee breakdown was not identified.[24] [1]

Business segments

Persimmon reports one operating segment: UK housebuilding. It is overseen by the Executive Board, which is identified as the chief operating decision maker; this segment represents 100% of FY2025 Group revenue of £3,751.3 million.[1][4]

The company also describes its operations through three brands, rather than as separately reported revenue segments: Persimmon Homes, its core brand; Charles Church, its premium brand; and Westbury Partnerships, which focuses on partnership and build-to-rent markets. The company does not disclose revenue contributions by brand.[2] Its FY2025 revenue categories were private new-home sales (£2,962.7 million; about 79.0% of Group revenue), housing-association new-home sales (£349.3 million; 9.3%), part-exchange properties (£426.7 million; 11.4%), internet services (£10.7 million; 0.3%) and planning promotion contracts (£1.9 million; 0.1%). These are revenue categories, not separate reportable segments; percentages are approximate calculations from the reported amounts.[4] [1]

Company history

Founded in York in 1972 by Duncan Davidson, Persimmon began expanding beyond its original base in 1976. It made its first acquisition, Sketchmead, in 1984 and became publicly quoted in 1985.[29]

The company expanded through acquisitions, including Ideal Homes in 1996, Beazer Homes in 2001 and Westbury Homes in 2006. Davidson retired as Executive Chairman in 2006 and became Life President; he died in October 2025.[29][30] [29][30]
