Products & services
Pennon’s regulated water services include drinking-water supply and wastewater services through South West Water, and water-only services through SES Water. It also provides non-household water and wastewater retail services through Pennon Water Services and related retail businesses. FY2025 external-customer revenue was £719.9 million from regulated water (about 68.7% of the £1,047.8 million total) and £320.1 million from non-household retail (about 30.5%); these shares are calculated from reported revenue, not service volumes.[8][9][10]
Pennon Power develops renewable electricity projects. Pennon reported a 45 MWp Fife solar farm paired with a 30 MW, two-hour battery, a 15 MWp Aberdeenshire solar farm, and a 34 MWp Cumbria project under construction; the reported four-site portfolio was expected to generate enough electricity annually to power around 50,000 homes. These are project details and expectations as stated in FY2025, not confirmation that all projects are operational.[11][12] [8][9][10][10][10][10][11][12]
Geographic presence
Pennon Group’s FY2025/26 reporting states that all its revenue was generated in the United Kingdom (100%). The geographic disclosure is at country level; it does not allocate revenue among UK regions or service territories.[13]
Its regulated water operations are in England. South West Water serves Devon and Cornwall and parts of Dorset and Somerset, and provides water-only services in parts of Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Bristol. SES Water operates in the South East. Pennon’s non-household retail businesses serve customers across Great Britain.[14][3] The group’s water-service areas also include Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Isles of Scilly Water.[15][1]

Business segments
Pennon reports two operating segments: **Water**, comprising regulated water and wastewater services provided by South West Water and regulated water services provided by SES Water; and **non-household retail**, comprising water and wastewater retail services for non-household customers through Pennon Water Services and SESWS. The company also reports **Other** as a separate revenue category, covering smaller ancillary businesses and intermediate holding companies not separately reported to the Board.[19][14]
For the year ended 31 March 2026, external-customer revenue was £902.0m for Water (approximately **69.8%** of total), £381.5m for non-household retail (approximately **29.5%**) and £7.9m for Other (approximately **0.6%**), out of £1,291.4m. These percentages are calculated from reported external revenue and are rounded.[20] [19][14][20][20][20][20][21]
Company history
Pennon’s history began in 1989, when South West Water was established following the reorganisation of the regional water authority and listed on the London Stock Exchange. The company adopted the name Pennon Group plc in 1998. In the 1990s, it expanded into waste management through the acquisitions of Haul-Waste in 1993 and Blue Circle Waste Management in 1995.[5][22][23][24]
Pennon expanded its water operations with the acquisition of Bournemouth Water in 2015 [25][26]. In 2020, it sold Viridor and Susan Davy became chief executive [27][28]. The group acquired Bristol Water in 2021 and completed its licence merger with South West Water in 2023 [29][30]. In 2024, it acquired Sutton and East Surrey Water, extending its water business into South East England [31][32]. Keith Haslett succeeded Davy as chief executive in April 2026 [33].
