Overview

Paylocity Holding Corp. is a cloud-based software company in the human capital management (HCM), payroll and workforce-management sector. Its SaaS platform brings together payroll and tax services, HR, time and labor, benefits, and finance and IT tools to help organizations manage workforce and business operations.[1] The company’s stated mission is to empower today’s workforce and build inclusive workplaces.[6]

Paylocity’s client base is primarily U.S.-based, with approximately 44,400 U.S. clients reported as of June 30, 2026; its Global Payroll offering supports U.S.-based companies with employees in more than 100 countries.[1][7] For fiscal 2026, ended June 30, 2026, the company reported revenue of $1.771 billion and nearly 7,000 employees.[1] Founded in 1997, Paylocity launched its SaaS platform in 2002 and has been publicly traded since 2014.[10][11] [1]

Products & services

Paylocity’s cloud-based platform combines human capital management (HCM), finance and IT capabilities around a unified employee record. It provides configurable workflows, web and mobile access, analytics and reporting, and integrations with hundreds of third-party systems. Its Ignite AI offering includes task-focused agents for areas such as payroll, time and recruiting, alongside an AI Hub for managing and monitoring agent use.[12]

Payroll products include Payroll and Tax Services, which calculate wages, deductions and withholding, connect payroll data with general-ledger systems, support automated benefit and retirement file transfers, and prepare and file payroll taxes. Global Payroll supports U.S.-based employers with employees in more than 100 countries. Additional offerings include On Demand Payment, Garnishments and Elevate Payroll, in which Paylocity specialists carry out payroll tasks while the client retains decision authority.[4]

HR and workforce products include employee-record and compliance tools; Home for employee self-service; Workflows & Documents for process automation and permission-controlled records; and Elevate HR/HR Edge for HR support and advisory services. Time capabilities include attendance tracking and AI-assisted scheduling, with time capture through kiosks, clocks, web and mobile apps, and smartwatches. Talent products cover Recruiting, Onboarding, Learning, Performance, Compensation and Market Pay. Benefits offerings support enrollment and updates, benefit decision support, health and flexible-spending account administration, COBRA and related services, and retirement contribution management.[18]

Other products include employee communications and engagement tools such as Community, Video, Employee Voice, and Recognition & Rewards; Data Insights and reporting; and finance tools for headcount planning, expense management, accounts-payable automation, corporate cards and procurement. IT capabilities include identity and access management—such as provisioning, single sign-on and multifactor authentication—and hardware asset management. Services include implementation, training and ongoing client support. Paylocity does not report revenue percentages by individual product or module.[36]

Geographic presence

Paylocity’s U.S. geographic footprint includes approximately 44,400 clients across the country as of June 30, 2026. Its FY2026 filing identifies its headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, and major operations centers in Lake Mary, Florida; Meridian, Idaho; and Pittsford, New York. Smaller facilities, primarily in the U.S., serve as data centers, sales offices, and distribution centers.[7][53]

Paylocity’s Global Payroll product enables U.S.-based companies to manage employees in more than 100 countries, but this product reach does not establish that Paylocity maintains offices or direct sales operations in all those countries. The company reports one operating and reportable segment and does not disclose revenue by geography or a regional employee headcount breakdown in its FY2026 filing.[5][52] [7]

Business segments

Paylocity reports one operating and reportable segment, encompassing its HCM, finance and IT software solutions. Accordingly, this segment represents approximately 100% of reported consolidated revenue; the company does not report separate revenue contributions for individual solution areas.[52]

Within the unified platform, Paylocity describes product and service areas including Payroll; Human Resources and Time & Labor; Talent, Benefits and Employee Experiences; and Paylocity for Finance and Paylocity for IT. These offerings cover functions such as payroll and tax services, HR administration, workforce time and scheduling, recruiting and benefits, employee communications, expense and accounts-payable management, procurement, and IT identity and asset management. These are product areas within the single reported segment, not separately disclosed reportable segments.[3] [52]

Company history

Founded by Steve Sarowitz in 1997, Paylocity released its first software-as-a-service platform in 2002. In 2007, Steve Beauchamp joined as CEO, and the company introduced WebPay 4.0, expanding its payroll and HR tools. Paylocity further developed its platform with Web Time and Web Pay 10.0 in 2012.[10]

Paylocity completed its initial public offering in March 2014 and began trading on Nasdaq under the symbol PCTY.[63] It expanded into benefits administration in 2018 through the acquisition of substantially all assets of BeneFLEX HR Resources, and added integration automation and workforce-planning capabilities with its acquisitions of Cloudsnap in 2022 and Trace in 2023.[66]

Toby Williams became President and Co-CEO alongside Beauchamp in 2022, then became sole CEO in 2024 as Beauchamp moved to Executive Chairman.[69][70] In October 2024, Paylocity completed its acquisition of Airbase, extending its offerings into finance and spend management.[71][72] [63]
