Overview

OSI Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures specialized electronic systems and components for security, healthcare, defense, and aerospace applications. Its three core businesses are Security, Optoelectronics and Manufacturing, and Healthcare.[1][2]

The company’s Security business provides inspection and screening systems, including turnkey solutions; Optoelectronics and Manufacturing supplies components, subsystems, and electronics manufacturing services; and Healthcare offers patient monitoring, cardiology, and connected-care products. OSI reports sales across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific and says it serves customers in more than 170 countries.[2]

OSI states its aim as “Creating Solutions for a Safer and Healthier World.” Founded in May 1987, it reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $1.786 billion for the year ended June 30, 2026.[6] [1]

Products & services

OSI Systems’ Security division sells products primarily under the Rapiscan name, including systems for baggage, parcel, checked-baggage, cargo and vehicle inspection; people screening; radiation monitoring; explosive and narcotics trace detection; and optical inspection. Cargo-inspection systems are available in mobile, portal, gantry and rail configurations, and use X-ray imaging to reveal the shape, size, location and relative density of cargo contents. Other capabilities include dual-energy and dual-view imaging and software-enhanced image analysis. The division also provides high-power digital and analog RF systems.[9] Its S2 services include screening-process integration, operator training and turnkey checkpoint staffing and operations, including airport checkpoint services; it also provides post-warranty security-system maintenance.[12][13]

The Optoelectronics and Manufacturing division supplies active and passive optoelectronic components and subsystems that detect or convert light into electrical signals, emit laser light, or amplify, separate or reflect light. Applications include satellite navigation sensors, laser-guided munitions, range finders, diagnostic and imaging equipment, glucose-monitoring devices, X-ray imaging and CBRNE detection.[14] Manufacturing and engineering services include turnkey production, PCB and cable/harness assemblies, LCDs, box builds, product design and development, supply-chain management, production manufacturing, and flexible- and rigid-circuit design, fabrication and assembly.[15]

Spacelabs Healthcare products include patient monitors for critical care, perioperative, step-down telemetry and emergency settings, as well as cardiology and remote-monitoring systems. Named offerings include Xprezzon and Qube bedside monitors, Xhibit Central Station, Intesys Clinical Suite, SafeNSound, Rothman Index predictive analytics, Pathfinder SL, Lifescreen Pro, Eclipse Pro, Eclipse Mini, OnTrak and Sentinel. Capabilities include wired and wireless monitor networking and centralized surveillance; Holter recording for up to 14 days with three channels or 72 hours with 12-lead pacing, and up to 30 days of three-channel ECG recording with Eclipse Mini. OnTrak supports pediatric and adult patients and activity correlation, while Sentinel consolidates data from Spacelabs and third-party devices and enables secure remote access.[16] Healthcare services include on-site repair and maintenance, telephone support, parts exchange, depot repair, operator and service training, e-learning, and software updates and upgrades.[22]

For FY2026, segment revenue was $1,247.949 million for Security, $375.306 million for Optoelectronics and Manufacturing, and $162.729 million for Healthcare—approximately 69.9%, 21.0% and 9.1% of consolidated revenue, respectively. The annual report’s figures are segment-level revenue, not revenue by individual product.[23] [9]

Optoelectronic devices and electronics manufacturing services are produced in California, New Jersey, Canada, Mexico, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the UK. The company locates much of its high-volume, labor-intensive work in Mexico, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia [25].

The FY2026 filing identifies principal leased facilities in the United States, Indonesia, and Malaysia, including the corporate headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and manufacturing or engineering sites in Dallas and Torrance, California, Batam, Indonesia, and Johor Bahru, Malaysia [26]. Security sales and service staff operate across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Asia; healthcare sales staff cover North and South America, Europe, and Asia; and optoelectronics/manufacturing sales staff are located in North America, Europe, and Asia [27]. Business segments

OSI Systems reports three business segments. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, Security generated $1,247.9 million, approximately 69.9% of consolidated revenue. Its focus includes inspection systems for baggage, parcels, cargo, people and vehicles; screening and detection products; and related screening services.[29]

Optoelectronics and Manufacturing generated $375.3 million, approximately 21.0% of revenue, from optoelectronic devices, subsystems and electronics manufacturing services, including assemblies and custom displays. Healthcare generated $162.7 million, approximately 9.1% of revenue, from patient monitoring, telemetry, clinical decision-support, cardiology and ambulatory monitoring products. These are the company’s reported business segments; the percentages are calculated from segment revenue and consolidated revenue.[31] [29]

Company history

OSI Systems was founded in May 1987 by Deepak Chopra, who led the company from its inception.[7] The company’s IPO prospectus was dated October 1, 1997.[34] In 2004, OSI acquired ARACOR and Spacelabs Medical, broadening its security and healthcare businesses.[35][36]

OSI expanded its security-screening portfolio through its 2016 acquisition of American Science and Engineering and its 2017 acquisition of Smiths Group’s explosive trace-detection business.[37][38] In September 2024, its Security division acquired a company specializing in military, space and surveillance capabilities.[39] On January 1, 2025, Ajay Mehra became President and CEO, succeeding Chopra, who remained Chairman.[40] [38]
