Company history
Organon’s corporate lineage traces to a company founded in Oss, Netherlands, in 1923, which later became part of Schering-Plough and then Merck. In June 2021, Merck spun off its Organon products business, establishing Organon & Co. as an independent, publicly traded company focused on women’s health, biosimilars and established medicines.[22][23]
After its launch, Organon expanded its women’s-health portfolio in 2022 through agreements involving Marvelon and Mercilon and broadened its biosimilars activity through a licensing agreement with Henlius.[24][25] In 2024, it added Dermavant and its dermatology treatment VTAMA through an acquisition, and completed an agreement to commercialize two Lilly migraine medicines in Europe.[26][27] In April 2026, Sun Pharma agreed to acquire Organon; the transaction was still pending in Organon’s first-quarter 2026 update.[28][29] [22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29]
