Overview

ON Semiconductor Corporation, which operates as onsemi, is a semiconductor company focused on intelligent power and sensing technologies. Its products serve automotive, industrial and AI data-center applications, including power-management and electrification technologies, vehicle safety and sensing systems, and industrial automation products. The company describes its mission as “propelling the world forward through intelligent technology.” [1]

For fiscal 2025, onsemi reported revenue of approximately $6.0 billion and about 23,000 employees worldwide. It reported 18 manufacturing sites across nine countries, alongside a global design, engineering, sales and support presence. Founded in 1999 as a Motorola spin-off, the company adopted the onsemi name in 2021.[4] [1]

Products & services

onsemi’s power products include silicon, silicon-carbide (SiC), gallium-nitride (GaN) and vertical-GaN devices, such as SiC JFETs, MOSFETs, discrete devices, power modules and diodes. The portfolio serves power-conversion applications including electric vehicles, fast charging, energy storage, industrial drives and AI data centers; onsemi describes products spanning a 0.8–800 V power tree. Its named offerings include EliteSiC and GaNEXUS.[8]

Analog and mixed-signal products include multi-phase controllers, gate drivers, DC-DC and AC-DC converters, power-protection devices, ultrasonic sensors, analog front ends, LDOs, isolation and logic products, and single-pair Ethernet devices. The Treo platform supports analog and mixed-signal products for a wide voltage range and high-temperature operation.[12] Its sensing and imaging portfolio includes CMOS image sensors, image-signal processors, SWIR and indirect time-of-flight sensors, SPAD arrays, SiPMs and actuator drivers. Hyperlux is a named sensor family; for example, the AR0823AT is an 8.3-megapixel automotive CMOS image sensor with HDR, LED-flicker mitigation and up to 150 dB dynamic range.[15]

For FY2025, revenue was attributed across its product-technology segments as 47% Power Solutions Group, 38% Analog and Mixed-Signal Group, and 15% Intelligent Sensing Group; these are segment shares rather than individual product-family shares.[16] Product sales accounted for approximately 99% of FY2025 revenue, with product development agreements making up approximately 1%.[19] [8]

Geographic presence

For the six months ended July 3, 2026, onsemi reported revenue by geographic location of $813.1 million from Hong Kong (26.1% of total), $746.1 million from the United Kingdom (23.9%), $708.6 million from Singapore (22.7%), $597.1 million from the United States (19.2%), and $251.9 million from Other locations (8.1%). These percentages are calculated from the reported amounts and total revenue of $3,116.8 million.[20]

For full-year 2025, reported revenue by geographic location was $1,634.8 million from Hong Kong (27.3%), $1,347.0 million from the United Kingdom (22.5%), $1,252.4 million from Singapore (20.9%), $1,230.6 million from the United States (20.5%), and $530.6 million from Other locations (8.8%), on total revenue of $5,995.4 million.[4]

The company’s 2025 filing lists design operations in the United States and in Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Front-end wafer fabrication is listed in the United States, Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia; back-end assembly and test in Canada, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and the United States. The filing also identifies SiC crystal-boule production in Hudson, New Hampshire, and silicon/SiC wafer production in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Czech Republic, and Bucheon, South Korea.[21] A 2025 company presentation reports approximately 23,000 employees worldwide, without a regional breakdown in the cited material.[22] [20]

Business segments

The latest available full-year reporting is FY2025, ended December 31, 2025. onsemi reports three operating and reportable segments—Power Solutions Group (PSG), Analog and Mixed-Signal Group (AMG), and Intelligent Sensing Group (ISG)—and its 2026 second-quarter filing continues to identify the same three segments.[23]

PSG focuses on silicon and wide-bandgap power technologies, including FETs and diodes, for high-power conversion; FY2025 revenue was $2,805.1 million, or 46.8% of total revenue.[8][26] AMG provides analog and mixed-signal products such as power-management devices, sensor interfaces, connectivity products, converters, sensors and isolation components for automotive, industrial, data-center, computing and mobile applications; revenue was $2,261.9 million, or 37.7%.[12][26] ISG supplies imaging and sensing technologies, including CMOS image sensors, image-signal processors, SWIR sensors, SPAD arrays and SiPM devices, for applications including ADAS, industrial automation and robotics; revenue was $928.4 million, or 15.5%.[15][26] [23]

Company history

ON Semiconductor was formed on July 4, 1999, when Motorola spun off its standard-products semiconductor business. The company went public in 2000 and acquired Cherry Semiconductor that year, expanding its power-management products.[7] It subsequently broadened its portfolio through acquisitions including AMI Semiconductor in 2008, Catalyst Semiconductor in 2009, SANYO Semiconductor in 2011, Aptina Imaging in 2014 and Fairchild Semiconductor in 2016.[27][7]

In 2019, ON Semiconductor completed its acquisition of Quantenna Communications, adding Wi-Fi technology to its business.[28] Hassane El-Khoury became president and CEO in December 2020.[29] In 2021, the company adopted “onsemi” as its trade name and completed its acquisition of silicon-carbide materials producer GT Advanced Technologies.[30][31]

In January 2025, onsemi completed its acquisition from Qorvo of a silicon-carbide JFET technology business that included United Silicon Carbide.[32] [7]
