The company operates in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada, with 6,695 stores reported as of June 30, 2026.[2] Its stated mission is to be the dominant auto parts provider in the markets it serves by offering a higher level of customer service and better value than competitors.[3] For scale, O’Reilly reported FY2025 sales of $17.782 billion and 92,923 team members as of January 31, 2026.[4][5] [1]

Products & services

O’Reilly Automotive sells new and remanufactured automotive hard parts, maintenance items, accessories, auto-body paint and related materials, automotive tools, and service equipment. Its product lines include national brands such as AC Delco, Bosch, Castrol, Denso, Dorman, Mobil1, NGK, Prestone, Valvoline and Wix, as well as proprietary brands including BrakeBest, Import Direct, MasterPro, MicroGard, Super-Start and Ultima. Private-label products are made by automotive manufacturers and are described as meeting or exceeding OEM specifications; products are offered across good, better and best value tiers.[6][7]

Services include used-oil, filter and battery recycling; battery, wiper and bulb replacement; battery diagnostics; electrical and module testing; check-engine-light code extraction and diagnostic information through VeriScan; repair-shop referrals; loaner tools; drum and rotor resurfacing; custom hydraulic hoses; paint-shop mixing and materials; and machine-shop services.[8] The company’s only material revenue source is automotive aftermarket product sales, but it does not disclose sales percentages by individual product category or a quantified DIY-versus-professional revenue split.[9] [6]

Geographic presence

O’Reilly Automotive operates in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada. At June 30, 2026, it reported 6,541 domestic stores, 126 in Mexico, and 28 in Canada, for 6,695 total; the company’s “domestic” figure is not further broken down by location in that update.[10] Its latest state-by-state disclosure, for December 31, 2025, showed its largest store footprints in Texas (878), California (614), Florida (318), Georgia (253), and Illinois (238).[11]

The company reported 32 distribution centers at year-end 2025, with a network totaling about 14.0 million operating square feet, as well as 11 satellite warehouses in Mexico and Canada. Its corporate office operations are primarily in Springfield, Missouri. The company reported 95,822 employees in its second-quarter 2026 results, but does not provide a geographic employee breakdown.[12] Consolidated revenue was primarily generated in the United States in 2023–2025; international revenue was described as immaterial, and the company does not disclose revenue by country or geographic percentages.[1] [10]

Business segments

O’Reilly Automotive reports one operating and reportable segment, the automotive aftermarket parts segment, which encompasses its operations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Accordingly, this segment represents approximately 100% of the company’s reported segment revenue; the company does not report separate revenue segments by geography or product category.[9][18]

The segment sells new and remanufactured automotive hard parts, maintenance items, accessories, auto-body paint and related materials, tools, and equipment. It serves both do-it-yourself customers and professional service providers; in 2025, each customer group accounted for approximately 50% of sales, a customer-channel mix rather than separate reportable segments.[6] [9]

Company history

O’Reilly Automotive was founded by Charles F. O’Reilly and his son, C.H. “Chub” O’Reilly; its first store opened in Springfield, Missouri, on December 2, 1957. The company opened its first distribution center and corporate office in 1975 and reached its 100th store in 1989.[20][21]

O’Reilly went public on Nasdaq in 1993. Key expansion milestones included acquiring Hi/LO Auto Supply in 1998 and Mid-State Automotive Distributors in 2001; in 2008, it completed the acquisition of CSK Auto.[22]

Greg Henslee became CEO in 2005, followed by Greg Johnson in 2018 and Brad Beckham in 2024. O’Reilly expanded internationally by completing its acquisition of Mexico-based Mayasa Auto Parts in 2019 and entered Canada through its 2024 acquisition of Groupe Del Vasto (Vast-Auto).[24] [20]
