Overview
NewAmsterdam Pharma Co N.V. is a Netherlands-incorporated biopharmaceutical company focused on developing medicines for metabolic and cardiovascular disease, particularly for patients whose cholesterol remains inadequately controlled or who cannot tolerate existing treatments. Founded in 2019, the company’s stated mission is to improve care for patients with unmet medical needs in these areas.[1]
Its lead medicine, obicetrapib, is an oral CETP inhibitor developed to lower LDL cholesterol. In Europe, obicetrapib is authorized as Ubeslo, and in combination with ezetimibe as Evlarco; Menarini is its commercialization partner in most European markets. The company is also studying obicetrapib for Alzheimer’s disease.[2][3][4][5]
The company has offices in Naarden, the Netherlands, and in Florida and Pennsylvania in the United States. It reported $6.741 million in revenue for the first half of 2026; its 2025 annual report said revenue had primarily come from a licensing arrangement with Menarini.[6][7][8] [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][5][6]
Products & services
NewAmsterdam Pharma’s core products are **Ubeslo (obicetrapib 10 mg)**, an oral CETP inhibitor taken once daily, and **Evlarco (obicetrapib 10 mg/ezetimibe 10 mg)**, a once-daily fixed-dose combination tablet. Both received European Commission marketing authorization in September 2026 for eligible patients with primary hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia. Obicetrapib is intended to lower LDL cholesterol; clinical development has also evaluated the products alongside existing lipid-lowering therapy.[9][2]
The company supplies finished obicetrapib and obicetrapib/ezetimibe tablets in bulk to Menarini under a supply agreement, with pricing based on a markup to cost. In the first half of 2026, reported revenue was supply revenue; it was $3.701 million in Q2 and $6.741 million for the half-year. These figures reflect supply revenue, not necessarily sales to patients following product launch.[10][11][12][13] [2][10][11][12][13][13][9]
Geographic presence
NewAmsterdam Pharma’s principal executive office is in Naarden, the Netherlands. The company also lists offices in Weston, Florida, and Yardley, Pennsylvania; its filings disclose leases in Naarden and Weston but do not report how employees are distributed among locations.[14][15][6]
Its stated commercial geography spans the United States, where it plans to commercialize products itself if approved, and Europe, where Menarini holds exclusive commercialization rights in the majority of European countries.[16][17] The company’s filings do not provide revenue by country or region, or geographic revenue percentages.[18][8] [14][15][6][16][17][18][8][6]
Business segments
NewAmsterdam Pharma reports one operating and reportable segment. The segment covers the company’s discovery, development and commercialization of therapies for cardio-metabolic diseases; the company states there are no separately managed business segments below the consolidated level.[19]
Accordingly, the sole segment represents 100% of reported segment revenue. Revenue was $22.503 million for FY2025 and $6.741 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026. The company does not report separate segment or product-line revenue contributions.[20][21][22] [19][20][21][22]
Company history
NewAmsterdam Pharma was founded in 2019 by Forbion and John Kastelein. In 2020, it acquired rights to obicetrapib from Amgen, an investigational cholesterol-lowering drug previously developed at Dezima Pharma, and Michael Davidson joined as chief executive officer.[23][24] The company announced a $196 million Series A financing in January 2021.[25]
In 2022, NewAmsterdam signed an exclusive European commercialization license for obicetrapib with the Menarini Group and began the Phase 3 PREVAIL cardiovascular-outcomes trial.[26][27] Later that year, it completed a business combination with Frazier Lifesciences Acquisition Corporation, becoming a publicly traded company; its shares began trading under the symbol NAMS.[28] The company also expanded obicetrapib research into early Alzheimer’s disease, initiating a Phase 2a study in 2023.[29]
In 2024, pivotal Phase 3 trials BROOKLYN and BROADWAY reported positive topline results, as did TANDEM, which studied obicetrapib combined with ezetimibe.[30] In 2025, the European Medicines Agency accepted marketing-authorization applications for obicetrapib alone and in combination with ezetimibe for review.[3] NewAmsterdam initiated the Phase 3 RUBENS study in December 2025 and completed enrollment in the Phase 3 REMBRANDT study in March 2026.[31] [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][3][31][23][24][25][26]
