Company history
NCR Atleos’s corporate lineage traces to the National Cash Register Company, founded in 1884 and renamed NCR Corporation in 1974. A key precursor to Atleos’s later self-service banking business came in 1977, when NCR launched its first ATM, the model 770.[26][27]
In 2021, NCR acquired ATM operator Cardtronics, substantially expanding its ATM network business.[28][29] NCR announced plans to separate its businesses in 2022; the self-service banking and related operations became NCR Atleos when the spin-off from NCR Voyix was completed on October 16, 2023, with Atleos beginning trading on the NYSE the following day.[30][31][32] In February 2026, Brink’s announced an agreement to acquire Atleos in a cash-and-stock transaction.[33] [30][26][27][28][29][31][32][33]
