Products & services

National HealthCare Corporation (NHC) provides skilled and intermediate nursing, post-acute and sub-acute care, rehabilitation, memory and Alzheimer’s care, assisted and independent living, home health, hospice and behavioral-health services. It also offers facility management and related accounting, financial and insurance services, leases health-care properties, and operates regional pharmacies that supply inpatient medications and bill Medicare Part D plans for participating patients.[5]

Its nursing-center services include 24-hour nursing by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants, as well as licensed therapy, nutrition, social services, activities, housekeeping and laundry. Rehabilitation includes physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy for recovery from illness, injury or disability. Assisted-living services include help with dressing, bathing, meals and medication management. Home-health offerings include skilled nursing, infusion therapy, wound care and physical, occupational and speech therapy, alongside aide support with personal care and daily activities.[7]

NHC’s specialized offerings include Alzheimer’s and memory care, sub-acute nursing, and hospice and palliative care through its subsidiary Caris Healthcare. Hospice services include routine home care, general inpatient care, continuous home care—with at least eight hours of care in a 24-hour period during a crisis—and inpatient respite. NHC Advantage is its institutional special-needs Medicare Advantage plan, offering nurse practitioners, care coordination, preventive screening and routine vision benefits.[10]

As of June 30, 2026, NHC operated or managed 80 skilled nursing facilities, 26 assisted-living facilities, nine independent-living facilities, three behavioral-health hospitals, 34 homecare agencies and 33 hospice agencies. In fiscal 2025, health-care services represented 96.8% of net operating revenue; reported segment revenue was approximately 86.8% inpatient services, 10.2% homecare and hospice, and 3.1% all other. These are segment-level figures, not revenue shares for individual services.[12] [5]

Geographic presence

National HealthCare Corporation’s U.S. operating footprint spans Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, with communities listed across these states in its directory [15]. Its hospice operations are located in Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia [16]. The company also identifies regional pharmacy locations in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Missouri [6].

The principal executive office is in Murfreesboro, Tennessee [17]. The company reports revenue by service line rather than by geographic region, so the available reporting does not provide regional or state revenue percentages [4]. [15]
