Company filings describe manufacturing, distribution and resale of products; no distinct service offering was identified. In the six months ended June 27, 2026, external sales were distributed across the Piping Systems, Industrial Metals and Climate segments at 64.4%, 25.4% and 10.2%, respectively; these are segment shares, not individual product shares.[10][11][8][15] [8][9][10][11][1][12][13][14][15]
Geographic presence
Mueller Industries has a U.S.-weighted manufacturing and distribution footprint, with facilities also reported in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, South Korea, Bahrain, and China. Examples include manufacturing sites in Ontario, Bilston, Monterrey and Guadalupe, Yangju, Al Hidd, and Xinbei District, alongside U.S. facilities across multiple states.[16][17]
Its disclosed markets extend beyond the countries where it operates: products made in the United States are sold domestically and exported worldwide; Canadian products are sold mainly in the United States and Canada; UK copper tube primarily serves Europe; South Korean products are sold worldwide; and Bahrain-made copper tube serves the Middle East and North Africa. The Trading Group serves the United States and Mexico.[18] The reviewed filings do not provide revenue by customer geography or employees by geography, so regional sales shares and workforce distribution cannot be quantified from these disclosures.[19] [16][17][18][19]
Business segments
For fiscal 2025, Mueller Industries reported three operating segments. Piping Systems generated approximately 64.0% of consolidated net sales ($2,676.1 million). It includes domestic and international piping businesses and joint ventures, with products such as copper tube, fittings and line sets, pipe nipples, plumbing specialties, and copper-based joining products. Its customers and markets include plumbing and refrigeration wholesalers, building-material retailers, manufactured-housing and RV distributors, and air-conditioning manufacturers.[4][19]
Industrial Metals contributed approximately 24.1% of net sales ($1,005.6 million). Its businesses make brass rod, bar and shapes; aluminum and brass forgings; aluminum impact extrusions; gas valves and assemblies; specialty copper, copper-alloy and aluminum tube; and wire and cable products. It primarily serves OEMs across industrial, transportation, construction, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, energy, telecommunications, and electrical markets.[3][19]
Climate accounted for approximately 11.9% of net sales ($496.8 million). Its products include refrigeration valves and fittings, high-pressure components, coaxial heat exchangers, insulated flexible HVAC duct systems, and line sets, primarily for HVACR markets. These percentages are calculated from each segment’s reported external net sales and consolidated net sales; the businesses listed within each segment are components of the reportable segments, not additional segments.[14][19] [4][19][3][14][20][21]
Company history
Mueller’s business heritage dates to 1917, while the present company was incorporated in 1990 and became the successor to Sharon Steel following a reorganization that year. Its shares were publicly listed in 1991.[5][22][23] In 1997, Mueller expanded into Europe by acquiring Wednesbury Tube in England and copper-tube operations near Paris.[24]
In 2015, the acquisition of Great Lakes Copper extended Mueller’s copper-tube operations into Canada. In 2017 and 2018, acquisitions of PexCor, HeatLink and Die-Mold expanded its PEX plumbing and radiant-system products, fittings and tooling capabilities.[25][26][27] Mueller later sold Die-Mold in 2021 and transferred HeatLink in 2023 as part of changes to its portfolio.[28][29]
In 2024, Mueller completed its acquisition of Nehring Electrical Works, adding wire and cable products, and agreed to acquire Elkhart Products, a copper solder-fittings manufacturer.[30][31] In 2026, it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire copper-tube manufacturer Bison Metals Technologies; the company’s reporting also recorded the sale of Sherwood assets during the first half of the year.[32] [28][29][31][32][5][22][23][24][25][26][27][30]
