Company history
Moog was founded in East Aurora, New York, in July 1951 by Bill Moog, his brother Art, and Lou Geyer. Its early work centered on Bill Moog’s mechanical-feedback servo valve; the company introduced its 071 Series servo valve in 1960.[27][28] In the 1960s, Moog began supplying actuators for launch-pad gantries, and its thrust-vector-control components flew on Apollo 7 and Apollo 8 in 1968.[29][30]
The company expanded its motion-control businesses through acquisitions, including GE Aviation Systems’ flight-control actuation business in 2009 and Animatics, a maker of servo motors and linear actuators, in 2011.[31][32] In 2020, it acquired Genesys Aerosystems, adding avionics and autopilot capabilities; in 2023, Patrick J. Roche succeeded John Scannell as chief executive.[33][34]
Moog acquired fiber-optics company COTSWORKS in 2025.[35] In 2026, marking its 75th anniversary, the company opened an Advanced Integrated Manufacturing facility as part of a reported $150 million investment in New York.[36][37] [35][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][36][37]
