Company history

Monster Beverage’s roots trace to a Los Angeles fresh-juice business started by Hubert Hansen and his sons in the 1930s. The corporate entity was incorporated in 1990, acquired the Hansen’s natural-soda and apple-juice business in 1992, and launched Monster Energy in April 2002. Hansen Natural Corporation changed its name to Monster Beverage Corporation in 2012.[25]

In 2014, Monster and The Coca-Cola Company announced a strategic transaction that closed in June 2015: Coca-Cola acquired a minority stake in Monster and transferred certain energy-drink brands to it, while Monster transferred its non-energy businesses to Coca-Cola. Monster acquired flavor supplier AFF in 2016, entered the alcoholic-beverage business with its 2022 acquisition of CANarchy, and acquired the Bang Energy drink business in 2023. In 2021, Hilton H. Schlosberg became co-CEO alongside Rodney C. Sacks, who had led the company as CEO since 1990.[25] [25]
