Overview

MasTec, Inc. is a specialty infrastructure contractor that engineers, designs, builds and maintains infrastructure. Its core businesses span communications and digital infrastructure, clean energy and civil and industrial infrastructure, electric power delivery, and pipeline infrastructure; it reports these activities across five segments: Communications, Clean Energy and Infrastructure, Power Delivery, Pipeline Infrastructure, and Other.[1]

The company operates primarily across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Its stated mission is to meet customer expectations safely and profitably while acting responsibly toward the environment and creating value for customers, employees and stakeholders.[5][6]

For FY2025, the latest annual reporting year identified as of October 2, 2026, MasTec reported revenue of $14.2635 billion. Its current company website describes a workforce of nearly 36,000 skilled professionals.[7] [1]

Products & services

MasTec provides infrastructure construction, engineering, maintenance and related technical services rather than a portfolio of discrete branded products. Its Communications services cover wireless and wireline networks, including fiber deployment, data-center buildout and interconnection, network integration and optimization, and customer fulfillment. Work supporting 5G networks can include tower upgrades, small and micro cells, distributed antenna systems, and expanded fiber networks.[9]

Its Clean Energy and Infrastructure services include construction and installation for wind, solar, biomass, natural-gas and hydrogen power generation; battery storage; heavy civil and industrial infrastructure; and environmental remediation. Power Delivery services include electric transmission and distribution, substations, grid modernization, power-reserve and battery infrastructure, gas lines, and emergency restoration. Pipeline Infrastructure services cover natural-gas, water and carbon-capture pipelines, including construction, maintenance, repair and integrity work.[9]

For FY2025, reported segment revenues were $3,339.1 million for Communications, $4,699.6 million for Clean Energy and Infrastructure, $4,176.1 million for Power Delivery, and $2,137.8 million for Pipeline Infrastructure. Segment EBITDA margins were 9.3%, 7.4%, 8.1% and 14.9%, respectively. These figures describe service segments; the company does not report performance as percentages attributable to individual products.[15] [9]

Geographic presence

MasTec’s primary operating footprint is the United States and Canada. Its foreign operations are primarily in Canada, and foreign revenue is generated mainly by Canadian operations in the Pipeline Infrastructure segment. The company has also performed work in other foreign countries.[16] In 2025, foreign operations generated $177.2 million in revenue, compared with $93.3 million in 2024 and $95.1 million in 2023; foreign operations represented approximately 1% of total revenue in 2025 and in the six months ended June 30, 2026. The cited disclosures do not give a separate Canada revenue figure or a country-by-country breakdown.[19]

At December 31, 2025, MasTec reported approximately 36,000 employees and 810 locations, without a geographic breakdown of either. The company’s careers page describes more than 300 offices throughout the United States and Canada.[21][22] Its principal executive office is in Coral Gables, Florida, and it is incorporated in Florida.[23] [16]

Business segments

MasTec reports four principal operating segments. In 2025, Communications generated $3,339.1 million, approximately 23.4% of consolidated revenue, from communications and digital infrastructure work, including wireless and fiber networks, data-center buildout and interconnection, network installation, and related services. Clean Energy and Infrastructure generated $4,699.6 million (32.9%), covering renewable and other power-generation construction, battery storage, heavy civil and industrial infrastructure, and environmental remediation.[9][15] [9]

Company history

MasTec traces its roots to Burnup & Sims, founded by Russell Burnup and Riley Sims in 1929, and Church & Tower, which Jorge Mas Canosa acquired in 1971 after his son Jorge joined the company in 1969. In 1994, Burnup & Sims acquired Church & Tower and adopted the MasTec name; Jorge Mas became president, marking the formation of the company under its current name.[24][25]

MasTec broadened its construction operations through the 2008 acquisition of Wanzek Construction and the 2009 acquisition of Precision Pipeline, followed by the 2014 acquisition of wireless-network contractor WesTower Communications.[26] José Mas became CEO in 2007.[29] In 2021 and 2022, MasTec acquired utility-services company Henkels & McCoy and infrastructure and energy contractor IEA, respectively, expanding its capabilities in utility, renewable-energy and infrastructure work.[30][31] MasTec has described the period beginning in 2021 as a significant shift toward markets associated with the low-carbon energy transition.[32] In 2026, it completed its acquisition of The Superior Group, extending its electrical-infrastructure capabilities into data-center and other mission-critical markets.[33] [32]
