Company history
MakeMyTrip was founded by Deep Kalra in 2000, initially serving U.S.-based Indian travellers. It launched its website in India in September 2005 and listed on Nasdaq in August 2010.[29][30][31]
A major expansion came in January 2017 with the acquisition of ibibo Group, including Goibibo and redBus. The company subsequently broadened its services through acquisitions including bus-operator technology provider Bitla in 2018, corporate travel provider Quest2Travel in 2019, and BookMyForex and hotel-technology company Simplotel in 2022.[32][33][34]
In 2020, co-founder Rajesh Magow became Group CEO, while Deep Kalra moved from that role to Group Executive Chairman; Kalra became Group Chairman and Chief Mentor in 2022. Later additions included car-rental provider Savaari in 2023 and the Happay corporate travel and expense-management business in 2025. In 2026, MakeMyTrip acquired interests in tour operator Flamingo Transworld and visa platform Atlys, and redBus India was amalgamated into MMT India.[35][36][33][37][38] [29][32][33][34][35][36][37][30][31][38]
