Overview

Lottomatica Group is an Italian gaming and betting company operating online and through retail and franchise channels. Its core offerings include sports betting, casino and other skill-based games, virtual games, and gaming-machine services; Italy is its defining market.[1][2]

The company describes its purpose as creating entertainment experiences grounded in legality and integrity, and its mission as providing engaging, safe and responsible entertainment through technology.[3] For FY2025, revenue was €2.247 billion. The company website lists 2,600 direct employees and a specialist franchise network of 18,000 people; these website figures are not tied to a stated reporting date.[4][5] [1]

Products & services

Lottomatica’s online products include sports betting, casino games, poker and bingo, offered through brands including Lottomatica, Better, GoldBet, Betflag, Planetwin365 and Totosì. Its online offering also includes skill and virtual games; the Group describes using a unified gaming platform across its brands and incorporating virtual games into its sports-betting app.[6]

Its land-based gaming products include AWP (Amusement With Prize) machines, featuring graphical reels and player interaction. A single game costs no more than €1, lasts 4–13 seconds, and pays winnings immediately in coins, without jackpots. VLTs (Video Lottery Terminals) are slot-machine-like terminals connected to a central computer; outcomes are determined using a random-number generator in the terminal. Permitted VLT wagers range from €0.50 to €10, with prizes up to €5,000 and jackpots up to €500,000. The Group operates VLTs on Spielo, Novomatic, Inspired, WMG and EOS platforms.[10]

Retail services include sports betting and gaming through betting points, with horse racing among the offered products; named brands include Better, GoldBet, Intralot and Planetwin365. The Group also directly manages gaming halls and owned AWPs. For FY2025, disclosed third-party revenue was €288.367 million for AWP, €430.077 million for VLT, and €55.179 million for Retail & Street Operations.[14] [6]

Geographic presence

Lottomatica Group’s geographic footprint is centered in Italy: the parent is incorporated and domiciled there, with its registered office in Rome. The 2025 group-company lists also show Italian registered offices in Milan, Moncalieri and Francavilla Fontana, in addition to Rome; these are registered addresses and do not necessarily represent every operating location.[18]

The group reported 2,565 employees at year-end 2025, including 376 described as “Foreign employees,” but did not provide their country distribution. Its Sports Franchise KPI listed 3,790 active shops and corners at year-end, without a geographic breakdown. The reviewed FY2025 reporting does not provide revenue by country or region, so a geographic sales mix cannot be stated.[21] [18]

Business segments

Lottomatica reports three operating segments. In FY2025, Online generated about 42.3% of revenue from third parties; it covers online betting and gaming through Group websites, as well as residual B2B gaming-software development.[24][25] Sports Franchise contributed about 23.4%, encompassing the physical betting network for sports betting, horse racing and other gaming products.[24][26] Gaming Franchise contributed about 34.3%, covering management of the AWP/VLT network, AWP devices and gaming halls, including certain bingo halls, and related B2B production.[24][27] Revenue shares are calculated from each segment’s FY2025 third-party revenue divided by total third-party revenue; the report labels the three segments Online, Sports Franchise and Gaming Franchise.[24] [24]

Company history

Lottomatica’s origins date to 1990; a separate milestone came in 1994, when Italy granted the company the concession to operate the Lotto service.[28][29] It listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2001, and De Agostini became its majority shareholder in 2002.[30][31] In 2006, Lottomatica completed its acquisition of U.S. lottery-technology company GTECH, broadening its business beyond Italy.[32]

In 2013, the parent company adopted the GTECH name; in 2015, GTECH combined with International Game Technology (IGT), and the combined company took the IGT name.[33][34] Separately, Gamenet acquired Intralot’s Italian operations in 2016, listed in Milan in 2017, and acquired Italian betting company GoldBet in 2018.[35]

In 2021, Gamenet completed its purchase of IGT’s Italian online, sports-betting and gaming-machine businesses and adopted the Lottomatica name.[38][39] Lottomatica acquired Betflag in 2022, began trading on Euronext Milan in 2023, and completed the legal merger of Lottomatica S.p.A. into Lottomatica Group S.p.A. in 2024.[40] [42]
