Li Auto Inc. is a Chinese electric-vehicle company founded in 2015. It designs, develops, manufactures and sells premium smart electric vehicles, primarily for the Chinese market. Its lineup includes extended-range electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles, including SUVs. The company states its mission as “Be Proactive, Change the World,” with a focus on products and services for families.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Products & services
Li Auto’s vehicle lineup includes four extended-range electric SUVs: the six-seat Li L9 and L8 and the five-seat Li L7 and L6. Its battery-electric models are the seven-seat Li MEGA family MPV, six-seat Li i8 SUV and five-seat Li i6 SUV. The MEGA uses an 800-volt platform and a 102.7-kWh battery; Li Auto states that it can add 500 km of range in 10 minutes at a compatible 5C charging stall.[10][11][4][12]
Alongside the vehicles, Li Auto offers driver-assistance software, over-the-air upgrades, vehicle connectivity, charging and after-sales servicing. It reports these activities together with other non-vehicle sales rather than as separate product revenue lines. Vehicle sales accounted for approximately 95% of its 2025 revenue, with other sales and services accounting for the remainder.[13][14][15][16] [10][11][4][13][14][15][12][16]
Geographic presence
Li Auto’s operations and sales are concentrated in China. The company is headquartered in Beijing, owns a manufacturing base in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, and leases a manufacturing base in Beijing. Its research and development activities are based primarily in Beijing, with additional centers in Shanghai, Munich and Silicon Valley.[17][18] At the end of 2025, Li Auto had 548 retail stores in China and servicing facilities covering 224 Chinese cities.[15][19]
Li Auto introduced vehicles in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Egypt in 2025, extending its presence beyond China.[9] Revenue remains substantially derived from China; the company does not report a country-by-country revenue breakdown or geographic revenue percentages.[20] [17][18][15][19][9][20]

Li Auto reports **one operating and reportable segment**, rather than separate segments for vehicle types or services. Management assesses performance and allocates resources using consolidated results. Within that segment, the company distinguishes vehicle sales—including embedded products and services—from other sales and services sold or provided separately.[21]
In 2024, vehicle sales contributed approximately **96%** of revenue (RMB138.5 billion), while other sales and services contributed approximately **4%** (RMB5.9 billion). The latter category includes non-warranty after-sales services, charging stalls, online-store goods and accessories, certain Li Plus Membership services, and commission fees. Company history
Li Auto’s operating business began in 2015 under Beijing CHJ Information Technology, with Li Xiang as founder, chairman and chief executive. In 2018, an affiliate agreed to acquire Chongqing Lifan Automobile, a step toward obtaining automotive production qualifications. Li Auto began volume production of its first vehicle, the extended-range electric Li ONE, in November 2019 and made its first customer deliveries that December.[23][24][25][26][27]
The company listed on Nasdaq in July 2020 and on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in August 2021. It expanded beyond the Li ONE with the L9 in 2022, followed by the L8 and L7.
