Its Our Brands range includes Kroger-branded staples, Private Selection premium products, Simple Truth natural and organic products, and Smart Way value products. These products generated more than $39 billion in fiscal 2025 sales [8]. Other named offerings include Home Chef meal kits and prepared meals, and Murray’s specialty cheeses [9][10].

Company history
Kroger began in 1883, when Barney Kroger opened a grocery store in Cincinnati. The business incorporated as the Kroger Grocery & Baking Co. in 1902. Early expansion included operating its own bakeries by 1901 and acquiring meat markets in 1904, allowing it to sell meat and groceries together.[1][18]
Acquisitions later shaped Kroger’s growth. It merged with Dillon Companies in 1983 and completed its combination with Fred Meyer in 1999. Kroger subsequently completed its merger with Harris Teeter in 2014 and acquired Roundy’s in 2015.[19][20][21][22] [1][18][19][20][21][22]
