Overview

The Kraft Heinz Company is a global food and beverage company formed through the 2015 combination of Kraft Foods Group and H.J. Heinz. Its portfolio spans condiments and sauces, ready meals, snacks, cheese, coffee, beverages and meats, with brands including Heinz, Kraft, Oscar Mayer and Philadelphia.[1] The company describes its purpose as “Let’s Make Life Delicious.” [4]

Kraft Heinz operates across North America, developed international markets and emerging markets. In fiscal 2025, it recorded approximately $24.9 billion in net sales and employed about 35,000 people in 40 countries.[5] [1]

Products & services

Kraft Heinz’s products span condiments and sauces, prepared meals, snacks, desserts, beverages, cheese, coffee and packaged meats. Its Taste Elevation platform includes condiments, sauces, dressings and spreads; Easy Ready Meals includes Kraft Mac & Cheese varieties, frozen potatoes and other frozen meals; and Substantial Snacking includes Lunchables meal kits, frozen snacks and pickles. In fiscal 2025, these platforms represented 45%, 17% and 6% of consolidated net sales, respectively.[8][9]

The remaining platforms cover dry packaged and refrigerated ready-to-eat desserts and dessert toppings; ready-to-drink and powdered beverages and liquid concentrates; American sliced and recipe cheeses; mainstream and premium coffee and coffee pods; and cold cuts, bacon and hot dogs. Recognized brands across the portfolio include Heinz, Kraft, Philadelphia, Oscar Mayer, Velveeta, Ore-Ida, Capri Sun, Maxwell House, Kool-Aid and Jell-O. Kraft Heinz also supplies foodservice distributors and institutional customers, including restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities and government agencies.[8] [8]

Geographic presence

Kraft Heinz’s largest sales market is the United States. In 2025, it recorded $16.8 billion in U.S. net sales, about 67% of its $24.9 billion total. Canada contributed $1.8 billion, the United Kingdom $1.3 billion, and all other countries combined $5.1 billion.[11] Its geographic reporting groups operations into North America, International Developed Markets, and Emerging Markets; their respective 2025 net sales were $18.6 billion, $3.5 billion, and $2.8 billion.[12]

The company has corporate co-headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Chicago, Illinois.[13] It employs approximately 35,000 people across 40 countries, including approximately 16,000 in the United States.[7] Its 69 manufacturing and processing facilities comprise 34 in North America, 17 in International Developed Markets, and 18 in Emerging Markets.[14] [11]

Business segments

Kraft Heinz reports two geographic segments: **North America** and **International Developed Markets**, the latter comprising its Europe and Pacific developed-markets business. Its West and East Emerging Markets and Asia Emerging Markets operations are combined and disclosed separately as **Emerging Markets**, rather than as a third reportable segment. In fiscal 2025, North America generated approximately 74.5% of net sales, International Developed Markets 14.2%, and Emerging Markets 11.3%.[5][12]

The company also organizes its products into eight consumer-focused platforms, which are distinct from its geographic segments. In fiscal 2025, **Taste Elevation**—including condiments, sauces, dressings and spreads—accounted for approximately 45.2% of sales; **Easy Ready Meals**, including macaroni and cheese and frozen meals, 16.3%; and **Substantial Snacking**, including meal kits and frozen snacks, 6.1%. The remaining platforms were **Hydration** (8.4%), **Meats** (7.7%), **Cheese** (6.6%), **Desserts** (4.5%) and **Coffee** (3.5%); other products accounted for approximately 1.6%.[15] [5]

Company history

The Kraft Heinz Company traces its history through two businesses. Henry J. Heinz began selling bottled horseradish in 1869, and Heinz ketchup appeared in 1876.[18][19] James L. Kraft started a cheese-delivery business in Chicago in 1903; Kraft introduced its macaroni and cheese dinner in 1937.[20][21]

Philip Morris acquired Kraft in 1988.[22] In 2012, Kraft Foods Inc. separated its North American grocery business as Kraft Foods Group, while the remaining company became Mondelēz International.[23] Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital acquired Heinz in 2013. Kraft Foods Group and Heinz then combined in July 2015 to form The Kraft Heinz Company.[24][25] [24]
