Company profile

KKR & Co. Inc.

Updated

Overview

KKR & Co. Inc. is a global investment firm whose core business is managing and investing capital across private equity, credit, real assets and other alternative investments. It also has an insurance business through Global Atlantic, and reports Asset Management and Insurance as its two segments.[1][2] Founded in 1976, KKR describes its mission as fortifying companies and communities and helping secure the futures of the institutions and individuals that rely on it.[3]

For the year ended December 31, 2025, KKR reported total revenues of approximately $19.46 billion and 5,043 employees worldwide at year-end.[4][5] Its international footprint includes 28 offices across four continents, according to its May 2025 investor presentation.[6] [4]

Products & services

KKR’s products are primarily investment funds and strategies. Its private-equity offerings include traditional and growth equity funds, including North America Fund XIV and North America Fund XIII, as well as technology- and healthcare-growth strategies. Its credit offerings include leveraged credit, private credit—including asset-based finance and corporate credit—and capital-solutions strategies through its Strategic Investments Group.[7]

KKR also offers real-estate and infrastructure investment strategies, including real-estate equity and debt approaches, direct lending and securities strategies. Its wholly owned Global Atlantic subsidiary provides life-insurance, retirement and reinsurance solutions, including annuity products.[13]

In the latest available reporting, for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, KKR’s Asset Management investment book was 53% private equity, 25% real assets and 15% credit by fair value. These figures describe the composition of that investment book, not the share of KKR’s revenue or assets under management attributable to each product category.[17] [7]

Geographic presence

KKR’s office footprint spans the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Its official location listings include New York and Miami in the Americas; London and Frankfurt in Europe; Hong Kong and Singapore in Asia Pacific; and Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh in the Middle East. KKR’s Latin America page also identifies teams in Miami, São Paulo and New York.[18] A May 2025 investor presentation counted 28 offices across four continents as of March 31, 2025; this is a dated figure, not a current office count.[6]

KKR’s 2025 Form 10-K does not report revenue or employee counts by country or region. It reports workforce by business segment rather than geography, so a geographic employee distribution or regional revenue mix cannot be derived from those disclosures.[2][5] [5]

Business segments

KKR reports three business segments: **Asset Management, Insurance, and Strategic Holdings**. Asset Management also has five disclosed business lines—not separate reportable segments: Private Equity, Real Assets, Credit and Liquid Strategies, Capital Markets, and Principal Activities. Its strategies include control and significant-influence investments, buyouts and growth equity; infrastructure and other real assets; and public and private credit, including leveraged loans, bonds, CLOs, private credit, and asset-based finance.[23]

**Insurance** is KKR’s insurance business, with disclosures covering life and annuity products and reinsurance. **Strategic Holdings** is reported as a separate investment-holdings segment.[29]

As an approximate measure of segment contribution, FY2025 segment earnings were $4.549 billion for Asset Management (77% of the total), $1.109 billion for Insurance (19%), and $232 million for Strategic Holdings (4%). The latest reported period available is the six months ended June 30, 2026: segment earnings were $2.904 billion (81%), $549 million (15%), and $115 million (3%), respectively. Shares are calculated from reported segment earnings and rounded; KKR also reports segment assets, but those indicate balance-sheet scale rather than earnings contribution.[29][30] [23]

Company history

KKR & Co. Inc. was founded in 1976 by Jerome “Jerry” Kohlberg, Henry Kravis and George Roberts, who left Bear Stearns to establish the firm. In 1978, it raised its first institutional fund, totaling $35 million. Kohlberg departed in 1987, and the firm’s 1988 acquisition of RJR Nabisco became a defining transaction in its history.[31]

KKR began exploring expansion into Europe in 1994 and established a presence in Asia-Pacific from 2005. It listed on Euronext Amsterdam in 2009 and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in 2010. In 2018, it converted from a Delaware limited partnership to a corporation. Its expansion into insurance included taking majority ownership of Global Atlantic in 2021 and acquiring the remaining equity interests in 2024. In 2021, Joe Bae and Scott Nuttall became Co-CEOs, while founders Kravis and Roberts continued as Executive Co-Chairmen.[35] [31]
