Company history
KBR’s history traces to two predecessor businesses: M.W. Kellogg, founded in New York in 1901, and Brown & Root, established in Texas in 1919. Brown & Root marked an early offshore-engineering milestone in 1947, when it designed and installed an oil-production facility beyond sight of land in the Gulf of Mexico. The two lineages came together in 1998, when Kellogg and Brown & Root’s engineering and construction operations merged to form Kellogg Brown & Root under Halliburton. KBR became an independent publicly traded company in 2006 after separating from Halliburton.[8][25]
From 2018 onward, KBR expanded its government, space and technology capabilities through acquisitions: Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies in 2018, Centauri in 2020, Frazer-Nash Consultancy in 2021, and LinQuest in 2024.[26][27][28][29] [8][25][26][27][28][29]
